JOB SUMMARY

 

The Junior Accountant is responsible for performing accounting activities related to payroll and accounts payable.  

GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES

        • Conduct General Ledger and payroll analysis and journal entries
        • Enter Labor Distribution codes in general ledger.
        • Conduct labor distribution Variance analysis
        • Provide administrative support to Accounts Payable
        • Reconcile Personal Allowance and Petty Cash and replenish funds as needed.
        •   Perform all necessary activities assigned to further the agency’s mission

  • Computer – The Staff Accountant must be able to use a computer and able to learn software programs
  • Office Equipment- The Staff Accountant is required to operate a fax, copier, scan, and other office equipment.
  • Communication - The Staff Accountant needs to be able to speak, read and write fluently in the English language
  • Writing - The Staff Accountant must be able to write in the English language using correct spelling, grammar, punctuation, etc.
  • Lifting - The Staff Accountant may frequently lift 0-25 lbs., occasionally lift 25-50 lbs., and rarely lift over 50 lbs.
  • Push/Pull - The Staff Accountant may frequently push/pull 0-25 lbs. of force, occasionally push/pull 26-45 lbs. force, and rarely push/pull over 45 lbs.
  • Sitting - The Staff Accountant may sit 50-60% of the working day.
  • Standing - The Staff Accountant may stand 10-20% of the working day.
  • Walking - The Staff Accountant may walk 10-20% of the working day.
  • Stooping -The Junior Accountant may occasionally stoop.  This is defined as bending body downward by bending spine at the waist.
  • Kneeling -The Staff Accountant may occasionally kneel.  This is defined as bending legs at knees to come to rest on knee(s).
  • Crouching - The Staff Accountant may occasionally crouch.  This is defined as bending body downward and forward by bending spine and legs.
  • Work environment: The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee frequently works in an office environment. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate due to talk and movement of the program participants and other co-workers.  The noise level can increase on occasion due to yelling or screaming by the participants of the programs.
Qualifications:

QUALIFICATIONS

  1. Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance Preferred
  2. Minimum 3 years’ general accounting experience, preferably in the Not-For-Profit sector
  3. General ledger experience
  4. Bank Reconciliation experience
  5. Knowledge of management of Social Security and SSI benefits a plus
  6. Understanding of fixed assets and investments
  7. Good written and oral communication skills
  8. Strong analytical Skills
  9. Strong attention to detail
  10. Prior Payroll experience, preferably with Paycom
  11. Intermediate level Excel, Word and Outlook
  12. Knowledge of accounting software and systems, Preferably Intacct and QuickBooks

HOURS AND TIME OF WORK

  • The Junior Accountant is contracted for 35 hours a week, Monday through Friday, from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM. Some evenings and early mornings may be required

Salary : $50,000 - $60,000
