Quality Inspector - 2nd Shift

This Position reports to:

In this role, you will have the opportunity to assist the Quality team in implementing and maintaining a quality system, including conducting audits, establishing controls, training on tools and methodologies. Each day, you will support activities related to quality management within the organizational unit. You will also showcase your expertise by reporting quality Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and customer cases and maintaining process documentation.

You will be mainly accountable for:

Safety

• Understands and follows plant safety and procedures.
• Avoids or prevents hazardous conditions from developing.
• Wear appropriate protective equipment as required, dress and conducts self in a safe manner.
• Keeps work area clean and orderly and maintains Lean 5S.
• Participates in plant safety objectives.

Job Functions

• Calibration Management (maintains records/certification) including repair and maintenance of gauge and equipment.
• Managing calibration from outside vendors including requesting quotes, sending gauges, scales, equipment, and maintaining calibration records for them.
• Working knowledge and experience of the operation of CMM (coordinate Measurement Machine) including the programming for various critical measurements.
• Working knowledge and experience of the operator of Optical Comparator and its repair, maintenance, and calibration.
• Perform calibration and maintain all calibration records of various in-house equipment and gauges.
• Working knowledge and experience for using Calibration management software like Gage Trak or any equivalent software.
• Working knowledge and experience for Pyrometer calibrations
• X-ray Calibration and Management.
• Perform Incoming Inspections of external supplier manufactured products.
• Perform 1st Article inspection of in-house products and Supplier manufactured products.
• Working knowledge and experience in reading and analyzing blueprints.
• Other duties as assigned.

Education and Experience

• High School Diploma or GED
• Associate degree in Metrology preferred not required, or related field or equivalent experience.
• Certified Mechanical Inspector and technical education in metrology or equivalent desired
• Two years’ experience in Quality Assurance in a manufacturing environment

Skills and/or Training

• Strong math skills.
• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and schematics.
• Familiarity with a variety of metrology equipment and tools.
• Proficient in using computer software programs such as Microsoft Office, Excel, Access, and Word.
• Hand tools, measurement devices, gages, and equipment repair, preventative maintenance, troubleshooting, and preventative.
• Ability to use CMM and create CMM programs.
• NIST and equivalent calibration standard experience.
• Experience or working knowledge in radiation safety program and should be willing to obtain Radiation Safety officer certificate.
• Working knowledge and experience in using measurement devices like Calipers, micrometers, dept and height gage, thread gages, ring gages, plug gages, go-no-go gages, and any other essential measurement devices.
• Working knowledge and experience in calibration standards like NIST and equivalent standards.
• Must be able to bend, twist & turn in a safe manner, lift to 40 pounds, stand for long periods.
