We are seeking an HSSE Manager USA. In this role, you will be accountable for implementation of performance improvement programs and practices to ensure an exemplary health and safety culture as well as a provide a strong focus on the environment and sustainability throughout all sites. You will apply your in-depth HSSE knowledge to offer advice, guidance and solutions to all U.S. based facilities, as well as our Field Service Team in our organizational compliance with local, state and federal environment health and safety regulations.
This role will work onsite in Columbia, SC with regular travel to field and customer locations across the US.
Target Salary Range: $120,000-$140,000 annual bonus

In This Role Your Main Accountabilities Will Be
- As a key member of the E-mobility Operations leadership team and the HSSE Global team, you’ll design, develop, implement, and monitor occupational health, industrial hygiene and workforce safety procedures, processes, and programs in alignment with ABB’s policies, in-structions, and standards
- Design, develop and implement employee training programs regarding Safe working behaviors and compliance for all employees and contractors and support the global team with aligning global training programs and implementing new tools
- Accountable for investigating, auditing and reporting of all HSSE incidents, including implementation of corrective actions
- Continual building and maintaining of positive relationships with federal, state and local regulators
- Directly support line managers and supervisors by conducting regular training and communicating effectively on all safety awareness programs to ensure all E-mobility U.S. leaders understand their obligations, liabilities, and compliance requirements in the daily performance of their roles
- Facilitate HSSE risks assessment in collaboration with all line managers, business leaders and team members
- Support the Operations, R&D, CoC and Field Service departments with HSSE input (for ex-ample Site visits, Electrical SME, People Electrical Assessments, Approval of UL Products)
- Lead continuous HSSE improvement projects, communicate and promote best practices, and ensure an exemplary health and safety culture
- Drive and ensure compliance with ABB management systems, e.g., ISO 14001 and 45001
- Accountable for ensuring the safe and legally compliant handling and disposal of hazardous chemicals and materials
- Report on progress and KPI’s of the implementation of ABB’s Sustainability objectives
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, or related field is strong preferred, with a minimum of 5-7 years of demonstrated HSE experience in a multi-site facility envi-ronment.
- Certified Safety Professional (CSP) designation required.
- As an alternative to a CSP Designation, consider 7 years of direct experience in a Health & Safety role,
- ASIS Certified Protection Professional (CPP) is preferred.
- Strong project management skills are required with demonstrated capability in developing, implementing, communicating and training effective behavior-based Safety programs
- Must have experience investigating, assessing risk, reporting and implementing correction action of HSSE incidents.
- Create awareness for HSE in the service department, R&D and factory among colleagues by giving toolbox discussions, among other things.
- Support multidisciplinary projects of R&D, installations and commissioning and field service on HSE and electrical related questions.
- Lead internal HSE related projects (for example implementing new global software tools).
