What are the responsibilities and job description for the ABA Behavior Technician (BT/RBT)- After School position at ABATEC?
We are seeking an enthusiastic and reliable Behavior Technician (BT) to support a young child with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) in the afternoons. This role is ideal for someone who is active, patient, and experienced with managing behavioral challenges in a structured yet playful setting.
Key Responsibilities:
- Implement individualized behavior intervention strategies under the guidance of a clinician.
- Engage the client in age-appropriate, imaginative play (e.g., dollhouse, baby dolls, singing, sensory activities like kinetic sand and play dough).
- Promote social interaction and peer engagement through structured play.
- Maintain consistent expectations and reinforce appropriate behaviors using evidence-based strategies.
- Track and record behavior data accurately through ABA technology software.
- Perform crisis deescalation and behavior management strategies when necessary.
- Adhere to established ABATEC policies and procedures, objectives, safety, ethical, and environmental standards.
Candidate Qualifications:
- Minimum 1 year working with youth diagnosed with Autism in an educational or care capacity
- Familiarity with ABA principles:
- Differential Reinforcement
- Token Economy
- Energetic, creative, and able to keep up with an active child.
- Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
- Sensitive to cultural differences.
- Must be dependable and committed to the scheduled hours.

- Complete ongoing training related to job duties, such as QBS Safety-Care
- Attend clinical meetings as required
*Work Environment
**This job operates primarily at the clinic in Malden, MA and in client's residence. The therapist is required to use mobile devices to transmit data captured during the therapies as required by ABA evidenced-based guidelines. The therapist is required to have access to reliable transportation during afternoon hours.
Physical Demands
- Duties may require standing walking, reaching, stooping, bending, kneeling, crouching, and sitting on floor.
- During sessions, therapists may need to sit and lean forward for continuous periods of time.
- Perform physical management strategies if necessary during crisis behavioral situations.
Position Type/Expected Hours of Work
* Monday-Friday: 3:00-6:30pm
Required Education and Experience
- A high school diploma or equivalent is required for this position.
- Minimum 1 year working with youth diagnosed with Autism in an educational or care capacity is required.
- Registered Behavior Technician (RBT) Certification is preferred
