Position Summary:
Job Title: Dealer Auditor
Duration: Open Ended Contract
Location: Chicago, IL
Note: The candidate will be based in the Chicago, IL metro area, with travel of 80 %, and will report to a Dealer Audit Lead Auditor or Manager.
Role Overview:
This role is strictly focused on Warranty Auditing.
Candidates must have direct warranty audit experience.
Incentive audit experience alone is not sufficient.
Work is performed on-site at automotive dealerships nationwide.
Travel & Work Model:
80% travel; effectively a fully field-based role with no corporate office.
Auditors will work at a different dealership nearly every week.
Travel expectations:
Typically within a 6-hour driving radius of the candidate's home.
Air travel will be used for locations beyond driving distance.
Hotel stays provided when travel exceeds 1.5 hours from home.
All travel expenses covered.
Company vehicle provided.
Typical Weekly Schedule:
Monday: Travel and audit kickoff/setup at dealership.
Tuesday–Thursday: Conduct on-site warranty audits (flexible daily start times).
Thursday afternoon or Friday: Travel back home.
Friday / end of week.
Work from home on administrative tasks, including:
Expense reports
Closing completed audits
Preparing for the following week
No requirement to report to a physical office.
Job Description:
- The role of the Dealer Auditor is to minimize the company's liability and risk by conducting dealership warranty audits, while consistently adhering to professional standards that align with the company's benchmarks of compliance and integrity.
- The primary objective is to ensure the consistent application of warranty policies and procedures while maintaining accuracy and fairness across our dealer network.
- The Dealer Auditor will also be responsible for preparing and communicating audit-related information, such as notification letters and specialized reports detailing audit results.
- Additionally, the Dealer Auditor will maintain oversight of warranty expenses by continually reviewing policies and procedures related to warranty repairs, as well as other controlling rules, to identify trends and other noncompliance risks.
- The Dealer Auditor will also play a key role in addressing recurring violations by providing consistent, ongoing communication of findings, conducting root cause analysis, and recommending possible corrective actions to stakeholders at both the dealership and corporate levels.
Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree required
- 5-7 years of (total) experience in the following areas:
- Automotive (Retail) – In-depth knowledge of dealership retail processes and procedures, with emphasis on fixed operations departments.
- Automotive (Technical) – In-depth knowledge of automotive technical information systems and repair/diagnostic procedures.
- Strong computer skills and highly proficient with Microsoft Office Suite (O365 / Online Collaboration Version)
- General understanding of the franchised dealership model
- Quantitative, analytical, and detail-oriented
- Possesses excellent interpersonal and communication skills (both written and verbal)
- Knowledge of risk management, control objectives/activities, and automated/manual controls
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English
