Job Summary
We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Direct Support Professional (DSP) to support individuals with developmental disabilities. The ideal candidate will assist clients in their daily activities, promote independence, and ensure a safe and nurturing environment. This role requires a solid patient-care commitment and working effectively with diverse populations.
Responsibilities
- Assist clients with daily living activities, including daily living activities, personal care, and skill-building.
- Provide companionship and emotional support, fostering positive relationships with clients.
- Monitor and document client behavior, health status, and progress towards goals in compliance with HIPAA regulations.
- Implement individualized care plans tailored to each client's needs and preferences.
- Support clients in community integration by facilitating participation in social, recreational, and vocational activities.
- Collaborate with healthcare professionals, family members, and other support staff to ensure comprehensive care.
Experience
- Previous experience in caregiving or working in a nursing home setting is preferred.
- Familiarity with patient monitoring techniques and patient observation skills is essential.
- Experience working with individuals who have developmental disabilities is highly desirable.
- Knowledge of home community care practices is a plus.
- Understanding of HIPAA regulations to maintain client confidentiality is required.
- Ability to perform heavy lifting as needed while providing physical support to clients.
- A background in nursing or related fields may enhance your application but is not mandatory.
