Job Title: Registered Behavior Technician (RBT) OR Behavior Technician (BT) – Temporary Certification Track
Location: Multiple Locations (Colorado Springs & Surrounding Areas); In-Home and Center -Based Services
Job Type: Part-time, Full-Time
Overview:
Due to recent changes mandated by the Colorado Department of Health Care Policy & Financing (HCPF), only individuals certified as Registered Behavior Technicians (RBTs) may provide services under CPT Code 97153 (Adaptive Behavior Treatment). ABA Across Environments now offers two employment pathways:
- Certified RBTs: Immediate session scheduling after onboarding and training, starting pay of $22/hour, with potential to earn more after achieving Tier 2 and Tier 3 competencies. Sign-on bonus included for certified RBTs after completion of 90 Day Review.
- Behavior Technicians (BTs) hired under a Temporary Employment Agreement: Starting at $18/hour while completing RBT certification. Upon certification, pay is raised to $22/hour, with opportunities for advancement to $23/hour and $24/hour after achieving Tier 2 and Tier 3 competencies.
Key Responsibilities:
- Implement Treatment Plans under BCBA supervision
- Prepare and facilitate engaging sessions using ABA strategies
- Collect accurate data and complete session notes in real-time
- Build strong therapeutic relationships with clients and families
- Follow BACB Ethics Code, HIPAA guidelines, and company policies
- Arrive on time and maintain a professional presence during sessions
- Participate in required trainings, supervision, and professional development
- Travel between sessions with reliable transportation
Qualifications:
Education: High School Diploma or equivalent (required)
Certification:
RBTs: Must hold active RBT certification through BACB
BTs (Temporary Track):
- Complete company-provided ACE-accredited 40-hour RBT training
- Apply to the BACB
- Sit for RBT exam within 1 week of application approval
- Company pays for BACB application and initial exam
- Not eligible for session scheduling until certification is obtained
- If exam is failed once, a 7-day wait is required per BACB before a second attempt
- Employment ends if RBT certification is not achieved after 2 attempts
Experience: Preferred, but not required
Skills: Reliable, compassionate, detail-oriented, strong communication, flexible, self-advocacy
Physical Requirements: Lift, push, or pull up to 45 lbs during sessions, and/or physically prompt a client throughout the therapeutic area
Compliance: Must pass Federal/State background check per BACB and state regulations
Transportation: Reliable, insured, and licensed transportation required
Compensation & Pay Structure:
Certified RBTs: Starting at $22/hour, with potential increases based on competency:
- Tier 2 Competency: $23/hour
- Tier 3 Competency: $24/hour
- $250 Sign-on Bonus for Certified RBTs after 90 Day Review
Behavior Technicians (BTs) hired under a Temporary Employment Agreement:
- Starting at $18/hour while completing certification
- $22/hour once RBT-certified
- Tier 2 Competency: $23/hour
- Tier 3 Competency: $24/hour
Additional pay includes:
- $20/hour for all trainings
- $20/hour for drive time between clients
- $18/hour for all indirect shifts due to late client cancellations
- Mileage reimbursed at current IRS rate
