Job Title: Payroll Tax Accounting Specialist
Reports To: Controller
Job Summary:
Support the company by performing multi-state payroll tax processes, ensuring compliance with tax regulations, and accurately reporting payroll taxes to federal, state, and local authorities.
Responsibilities and Duties:
- Process weekly Federal Tax Deposits
- Process weekly multi-state tax payments
- Ensure accurate calculation of payroll taxes
- Prepare and submit payroll tax reports and returns to the appropriate tax authorities in a timely manner
- Reconcile payroll tax deposits and resolve discrepancies related to payroll taxes
- Resolve any payroll tax issues and respond to tax-related inquiries from various agencies
- Prepare weekly payroll Journal Entries
- Assist accounting department
Qualifications:
- High School Diploma
- Basic accounting classes or accounting knowledge
- Proven experience as a Payroll Tax Specialist or similar role
- Multi-state payroll tax filings
- Problem-solving skills to address payroll tax issues or discrepancies and to develop efficient solutions
- Accuracy and attention to detail
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office products, including Excel
- Excellent organizational skills and time-management skills
- Ability to multi-task
- Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines, especially during quarter-end and year-end reporting periods
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
