Deaf / Hard of Hearing Teacher Job Description:

- Contract through the 26/27 school year – 37.5 hours per week
- Contract follows the academic district calendar
Deaf / Hard of Hearing Teacher Essential Functions:
- Provide direct and consultative services to students who are deaf or hard of hearing.
- Support students in both general education and special education settings.
- Develop and implement IEP goals related to hearing needs.
- Collaborate with school staff and families to ensure appropriate accommodations and services.
- Monitor and support use of amplification and assistive listening devices.
- Travel between schools within the district or assigned region.
Deaf / Hard of Hearing Teacher Requirements:
- Illinois Professional Educator's License (PEL) with specialization in Deaf and Hard of Hearing.
- Illinois Teacher of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing (DHH) endorsement/licensure
- Experience working with students across a range of grade levels preferred.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills.
- Must have the ability to stand or sit for extended periods of time; see and read a computer screen and printed material with or without vision aids; hear and understand speech at normal levels and on the telephone; speak in audible tones so that others may understand clearly in person and on the telephone; and the ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions; May include frequent walking, standing, stooping, lifting up to approximately 25 pounds and occasional lifting of equipment and/or materials weighing up to approximately 40 pounds may be required.
