AB Legal is a small but mighty Kansas law firm specializing in civil litigation, probate, and estate planning. We’re looking for a remote, in person, or hybrid paralegal who genuinely knows their stuff in at least one of those areas and can hit the ground running. For a contract role, we’re open to a part-time fit starting at 20 hours per week, and open to a full-time arrangement for the right person. For in-person or hybrid, we’re looking for a full-time fit.
- Must be available to join mandatory case review meeting on Tuesdays, 10am-12pm CDT
What You’ll Do
• Manage active files and keep cases moving. You identify next steps and take them without waiting to be told
• Draft and finalize legal documents (pleadings, probate filings, estate plan instruments, correspondence) in compliance with firm formatting SOPs
• Track and calendar deadlines; flag them before they become problems
• Prepare and organize discovery, case notes, and file documentation
• Delegate appropriately to the legal assistant and follow through on completion
What We’re Looking For
• Substantive paralegal experience in civil litigation. US practice experience required, Kansas preferred
• Ability to move a matter forward independently without an attorney directing every step
• Obsessive attention to detail in the substance and in the formatting
• Comfortable working remotely and staying organized without someone checking in
• Experience with Smokeball and/or Wealth Counsel is a plus
Performance Expectations
• Minimum 20 hours per week, 75% of work hours must be billable time
• Accurate and detailed timekeeping, contemporaneous in Smokeball
• 90% or greater collection rate on billed time
• Consistent adherence to firm standards as set out in our SOPs
