JOB SUMMARY:

A major client is asking us to provide a electrical lead to oversee electrical portions of new plant construction/upgrade projects. The electrical lead will oversee and coordinate electrical subcontractor activities to assure compliance with the project scope, schedule, and budget. The electrical lead will work in a plant construction environment under the direction of the client's Project Lead on site. This role requires strong electrical project expertise and excellent coordination skills with design engineers, subcontractors, end client engineers, site supervisors, and other project stakeholders.

CONTRACT TYPE: 1099 Independent Contractor

LOCATION: Jeffersonville, OH area

START DATE: January 2026

DURATION: 18 months with good possibility of extension

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Interface with electrical sub-contractors to manage risks and ensure that electrical work is completed safely, to specifications, on time, and on-budget.
  • Thoroughly understand the design details, budget estimate, job scope, and schedule.
  • Read and understand all electrical bid and construction packages, including scopes of work, specifications, and drawings.
  • Help to lead sub-contractor bid review and progress meetings.
  • Effectively manage communications between subcontractors, client engineers, and others to coordinate the work and resolve issues.
  • Review and approve progress invoices and change requests.
  • Assure that all electrical work meets client requirements and specifications.
  • Check key deliverables such as scope of supply, quality, workmanship, and functionality to ensure that systems are ready for use.
  • Perform administrative tasks including scheduling, budget management & cost control, weekly reports, etc.
  • Verify that all equipment drawings, operation & maintenance manuals and spare part lists have been received.
  • Sign-off on new electrical systems and manage pending work lists.
  • Collect and maintain "as-built" information to reflect any changes made during construction.
  • Standard working time will be 5-1/2 days per week. Other hours may be required to meet deadlines or during the start-up and testing of new systems.

Overall, you will play a critical role in ensuring the successful execution of projects that drive significant growth and innovation within the organization and serve our client's needs.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Electronics or Electrical Engineering (OR solid experience managing industrial electrical installations).
  • Minimum of 8 years of electrical project oversight experience in similar facility
  • construction technology, methods, equipment, tools, and work procedures.
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills to coordinate with cross-functional teams and stakeholders.
  • Strong knowledge of electrical construction processes, laws, standards, and regulations.
  • Successful background maintaining high safety standards and delivering quality
  • outcomes.
  • Strong electrical background in industrial construction or manufacturing is required.
  • Good understanding of construction scheduling, cost control, and change management.
  • Prior experience managing portions of commercial or industrial project scopes of at least $15M in value.
  • Experience in the automotive industry is strongly preferred but not required.
  • Technical familiarity with the following types of facilities systems:

  • Medium-, and low-voltage industrial power distribution, including substations and switchgear, transformers, cables, cable trays, and terminations

  • Power and control systems for fire alarms, boilers, air compressors, HVAC, pumps, lifting systems, etc.

  • Industrial interior and exterior lighting

  • Fire protection, cameras, data, and security systems

  • Knowledge and experience with control system components and wiring would be beneficial. PLC programming will not be required.

  • Ability to read and interpret single-line wiring diagrams, schematic wiring diagrams, electrical equipment location drawings, plan drawings, installation detail drawings, etc.

  • Ability to read and understand calculations and studies for electrical power systems, such as short circuit studies and electrical coordination studies.
  • Ability to verify electrical drawings and installations for compliance with customer, industry, and government standards and specs.
  • Familiarity with Gantt chart scheduling, and identification and mitigation of schedule risks.
  • Membership in the IBEW or equivalent labor union experience within an electrical subcontractor or unionized work environment is required.
  • Relevant experience and certifications are ideal, including familiarity with NFPA 70E standards, and training in Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) procedures, Arc Flash safety, and OSHA 30.
  • Completion of NECA Electrical Project Supervision Level I and II, as well as certification in CPR and First Aid, is desired.
  • A strong background in electrical and mechanical troubleshooting is highly desirable.Ability to thrive in fast-paced, dynamic environments and adapt to changing project requirements.

Pay: $ $75.00 per hour

  • How many years of experience do you have as an Electrical Lead?
  • How many years of project management or coordination experience do you have?
  • How many years of experience do you have with the installation and startup of new electrical facility systems? Please list some of the electrical facility systems do you have experience with.
  • Are you a member of the IBEW, or do you have experience working with unionized electrical subcontractors?
