Position Overview
Aardvark Engineers, Inc. is seeking an experienced Civil Engineering Field Technician to support construction materials testing and inspection services on active job sites throughout North and South Carolina. Key Responsibilities
- Perform field and laboratory testing of:
- Soils
- Concrete
- Asphalt
- Masonry
- Reinforcing steel (rebar)
- Conduct IBC Special Inspections in accordance with applicable codes
- Interpret construction drawings, specifications, and testing requirements
- Prepare accurate and timely field reports and documentation
- Coordinate with project managers, contractors, and clients to resolve field issues
- Travel to project sites throughout NC and SC
- 75% field work / 25% office support
- Use personal reliable transportation (mileage reimbursed)
Qualifications
- 2 years of experience in construction materials testing or civil field engineering
- Working knowledge of ASTM, ACI, NCDOT, and/or ICC standards
- Current certifications or ability to obtain:
- ACI
- Nuclear Gauge Safety
- ICC
- NICET (or equivalent)
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to lift up to 75 lbs and work outdoors in varying conditions
- High school diploma or GED required (technical training preferred)
- Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record
