Role Description The Chief Engineer of Product Engineering is a full-time, on-site role based in Austin, TX, responsible for leading the engineering design, development, and delivery of Aalo Atomics’ core energy products. This position oversees multidisciplinary engineering teams, sets technical direction, and ensures product architectures meet performance, safety, regulatory, and scalability requirements. Day-to-day responsibilities include guiding system design reviews, defining engineering standards and best practices, reviewing and approving critical technical documentation, and coordinating cross-functional collaboration with product management, manufacturing, and operations. The Chief Engineer will also mentor engineers, manage technical risk, drive continuous improvement in engineering processes, and support strategic decisions related to technology roadmap and product lifecycle. This role requires frequent engagement with senior leadership, external partners, and key stakeholders to align product engineering with the company’s long-term mission and commercial objectives.

Qualifications
- Proven experience leading complex product engineering efforts in energy, hardware, or advanced technology industries, with responsibility for systems architecture and product lifecycle management.
- Strong skills in mechanical, electrical, or systems engineering disciplines, including design for reliability, safety, manufacturability, and maintainability.
- Experience with engineering project management, including planning, resource allocation, risk assessment, and coordination of cross-functional teams.
- Ability to establish and enforce engineering standards, documentation practices, design review processes, and quality assurance methodologies.
- Demonstrated capability to mentor and develop engineering teams, foster collaboration, and build an inclusive, high-performance culture.
- Familiarity with regulatory and compliance requirements relevant to energy technologies, as well as industry codes and standards.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills, with the ability to balance technical rigor and business priorities.
- Clear and effective communication skills, including the ability to present technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering (mechanical, electrical, nuclear, systems, or related field) required; advanced degree preferred.
