[Senior Project Coordinator]
We are a small, nimble, and mighty design-focused architecture firm. To maintain our agility and impact, it is important to emphasize that we all wear a lot of hats. This isn't just about managing from a distance; it's about leading by example and being deeply involved in the creative process and execution.
We are looking for an exceptional Senior Project Coordinator – with strong design skills who likes to flex those muscles, while simultaneously excelling at managing junior designers, project timelines, city submittals, and clients. The Project Coordinator plans, organizes, schedules, and budgets their time in an efficient and highly productive manner, focusing on key priorities to execute tasks while delivering the highest quality product and customer service. They do not let important details and questions slip through the cracks. They are a self-starter who holds the entire team (including management) accountable for deliverables and deadlines. They push the team through excitement and motivation to keep moving and learning!
Your role is that of a conductor, helping to optimize back-end operations, overseeing and executing various projects, and acting as part of the backbone of the office. The ability to have both a micro and macro view of a project at the same time is essential. Efficiency, quality, and inventiveness are vital, and we’ll depend on you to integrate these skillsets to execute deliverables. This position is for talented individuals who are eager to collaborate with a great team and gain exposure to the inner workings and growth of the studio.

[What You’ll Do]
- Project Leadership and All-Phases Design: In conjunction with principals, hold your project team accountable for deadlines and deliverables. Actively manage and mentor junior and intermediate designers, overseeing internal workflows and schedules to ensure critical milestones are met while also assisting in developing their professional skills.
- Project Management: Oversee project timelines and budgets. Serve as the primary point of contact for clients and the key conductor for consultants (Structural, MEP, etc.), ensuring that engineering and technical systems are seamlessly integrated without compromising design intent.
- System and Team Management: Define, build, and maintain operational systems to streamline workflows and improve project delivery. Hold the team accountable for deadlines and deliverables. Actively manage and mentor junior and intermediate designers, overseeing internal workflows and schedules to ensure the team hits critical milestones while developing their professional skills.
- Presentations and Advanced Technical Drawing: Producing and directing the production of client presentations, drawings, diagrams, and 3D model visualization utilizing BIM software to create the above as well as technically accurate construction drawing sets.
- City Submittal and Construction Administration: Research and implement building codes, zoning ordinances, and other governing agency requirements to secure project approvals. During the construction phase, you will perform site visits, respond to RFIs, and manage submittals, bulletins, and punch lists to ensure execution matches the vision.
[Nitty-gritty Details]
- Professional Experience: B.Arch or M.Arch with a robust level of professional experience in project design and documentation - 8 years of post-graduate experience minimum with 10 preferred.
- Exceptional Design and Communication: Ability to visually and verbally communicate complex design ideas to clients and multi-disciplinary teams with a high level of design competence.
- Proactive Leader and Self-Starter: Proven experience as a self-motivated leader with a strong track record of fast growth and the desire to take on leadership opportunities.
- Punctual and Highly Organized: Essential for managing project timelines, multiple complex schedules, and budgets.
- Teamwork and Accountability: Proven ability to collaborate effectively with a diverse team.
- Technical Expertise: Strong knowledge of Type V construction as well as building and zoning regulations for California with emphasis in Los Angeles and its surrounding areas. A proven ability to translate high-level design concepts into precise technical documentation.
- Software Proficiency: High proficiency in BIM software is required and previous experience with ArchiCAD is a plus.
- Legal and Logistics: We are a hybrid office which requires our team to be currently Los Angeles-based with legal authorization to work in the U.S., a valid driver’s license, and a reliable car for frequent site visits and consultant coordination.
