What are the responsibilities and job description for the Health Navigator position at AADAP, Inc.?
A. SUMMARY STATEMENT
The PrEP Navigator plays a vital role in AADAP’s HIV prevention efforts by providing outreach, education, counseling, and linkage to PrEP (Pre-Exposure Prophylaxis) and other sexual health services. The PrEP Navigator supports individuals at risk for HIV—particularly communities of color, LGBTQ individuals, and people affected by substance use—through culturally sensitive outreach, navigation, and follow-up care coordination.
B. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
A. Provide PrEP education and risk-reduction counseling to individuals and groups in community and clinical settings.
B. Conduct HIV/STI testing and screening as part of integrated prevention services.
C. Assist clients with PrEP initiation and adherence support, including scheduling medical appointments, insurance navigation, and medication assistance programs.
D. Maintain regular client follow-up to ensure ongoing engagement in care and medication adherence.
E. Collaborate with AADAP’s prevention, behavioral health, and medical partners to provide referrals and wraparound services.
F. Participate in community outreach events, workshops, and social media campaigns to promote PrEP awareness and sexual health education.
G. Maintain accurate and timely data entry and documentation in accordance with program and funder requirements.
H. Attend training, supervision, and team meetings as required.
Qualifications and Education Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in Public Health, Social Work, Psychology, or related field; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Minimum 1 year of experience in community health, HIV prevention, or case management.
- Strong knowledge of PrEP, PEP, HIV/STI prevention, and sexual health.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
- Ability to work effectively with diverse communities, including LGBTQ , BIPOC, and people with substance use or mental health concerns.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and data entry systems.
- Valid California Driver’s License and reliable transportation
Preferred Skills
- Experience working in Los Angeles County public health programs.
- HIV test counselor certification (or willingness to complete training within 3 months).

- Permanent resident or U.S. Citizen; proof of work eligibility upon hiring.
- Must have one (1) year of recovery or drug free lifestyle as of the date of the
application.
- Must provide proof of full vaccination and 1st Booster against Covid-19 upon hiring.
- Recent physical examination and TB test necessary upon hiring
- Ability to get along well with others, be punctual, pleasant, and tactful with professional appearance and conduct.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with supervisors, coworkers, clients and their families, community organizations, and the general public.
- Ability to be culturally competent of age groups, gender identity, sexual orientation, spiritual beliefs, socioeconomic status, and diverse cultures.
Physical Requirements:
Light Duty
Must be able to remain in a stationary position 50% of the time, which includes repetitive data entry with computers. The position frequently communicates with customers and/or coworkers and must be able to exchange accurate information in these situations. This class is intended for positions requiring light physical effort, which may include occasional lifting to a 10-pound limit, and some bending, stooping, or squatting and occasionally ascends/descends ladders and staircase.
