Position Summary:
A Pipefitter is responsible for the installation, maintenance, and repair of piping systems on ships.The role requires the ability to read and interpret blueprints, follow technical instructions, and adhere to strict safety regulations.
Essential Functions:
- Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and design plans.
- Measure, cut, thread, and bend pipes to specified dimensions.
- Align, position, and secure pipes before installation.
- Inspect piping systems for leaks, defects, and compliance with standards.
- Perform repairs and modifications on existing piping systems.
- Follow all safety protocols and shipyard procedures.
- Collaborate with team members to meet project deadlines.
- Provide progress updates to supervisors as required.
- Stay current with pipefitting techniques, tools, and industry best practices.
Requirements:
- Experience as a pipefitter in shipbuilding, industrial, or construction environments.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings.
- Measuring, cutting, threading, and bending pipes.
- Knowledge of pipe materials, fittings, and installation techniques.
- Strong understanding of workplace safety standards and shipyard safety protocols.
- Physical ability to work in confined spaces, at heights, and under various weather conditions.
- Basic math and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
