FAA Cloud Application Engineer -Mid Level Part Time

A3 Technology, Inc. is seeking a part time mid-level cloud application developer/engineer to join our FAA team. This position will perform gap and functional analyses of proposed NOTAM applications and then design and develop applications for testing on the FAA’s research cloud environment.

Responsibilities:

• Develop and maintain cloud-based applications using programming languages and tools such as Java, Python, and AWS services.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather requirements, design, test, and deploy applications in a timely and efficient manner.
• Design and develop application architecture, choosing appropriate cloud services and infrastructure to ensure scalability, security, and high performance.
• Debug and troubleshoot issues throughout the software development life cycle, including identifying and fixing bugs, optimizing code, and addressing security vulnerabilities.
• Document code, best practices, and application workflows to ensure knowledge management and maintainability.
• Participate in code reviews and provide constructive feedback to team members to improve code quality.
• Keep up to date with emerging cloud technologies and industry trends to identify new opportunities for enhancing existing applications and developing new ones.
• Follow industry-standard development methodologies, including agile, to ensure consistency, scalability, and quality of code.
• Clearly communicate technical solutions and progress to non-technical stakeholders to ensure prompt and effective decision-making.

Skills Required:

• Experience with multiple cloud environments and programming languages.
• Demonstrated experience designing and deploying successful applications for a variety of purposes and user groups.

Skills Preferred:

• Experience developing applications for FAA systems/users/environments.
• Experience with the FAA NOTAM System.
• Experience developing or maintaining applications in the FAA’s Research & Development Operation Environment.

Education:

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering (software, civil, electrical, electronic, chemical, industrial, mechanical, aeronautical, avionics, environmental or computer) from a college or university with a degree curriculum accredited by the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET) and 6-10 years related experience OR
• Master's degree in engineering (software, civil, electrical, electronic, chemical, industrial, mechanical, aeronautical, avionics, environmental or computer) from a college or university with a degree curriculum accredited by the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET) and 3-7 years related experience.

Additionally, US Citizenship or documented proof of eligibility to work in the US is a must. Upon receiving a conditional offer of employment, candidates will undergo a Government investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for Government clearance. Verification of past employment, education and references is also required. It is imperative that candidates be either a US citizen or a current green card holder with the last 3 consecutive years as a resident of the US.

The salary range for positions is $50,000 to $175,000. This range is provided as a general guideline and should not be interpreted as a guarantee of compensation. Actual salary offers will be determined based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to the specific responsibilities of the position, the candidate’s education, experience, location, knowledge, skills, and abilities. In addition, compensation may be influenced by applicable Federal Government contract labor categories and established contract wage rates.
