Works-in-Progress Associates (WPA) is seeking an experienced Utility Coordinator to join our team. As a Utility Coordinator, you will be responsible for managing utility-related tasks, ensuring effective communication among stakeholders, and coordinating utility relocations for construction projects. This role is crucial for ensuring that utility services are maintained and coordinated effectively during construction projects, minimizing disruptions and ensuring compliance with regulations. Project SummaryThe Livonia Maintenance Facility, located at 717 Elton Street in Brooklyn, consists of the complete renovation and expansion of the existing Maintenance Building, providing wider aisles in the current Building footprint and creating an additional bay with a higher ceiling to enable access to car roof equipment, which will include a properly sized bridge crane for HVAC maintenance and replacements. A new inspection floor consisting of four new posted rail tracks (including the track in the new addition) that are long enough to hold two (2) five (5) car consists (plus end aisles) with all mandatory clearances, all required shop floor and posted rail utilities such as lighting, alternating current (“AC”) and direct current (“DC”) electrical, HVAC, compressed air, fire alarm and suppression and water, an overhead crane over the track in the new bay for removal and installation of overhead HVAC units, and oil and water separator(s) with connections to all shop floor drains and to the municipal sewer system. Minimum Requirements:Baccalaureate Degree in civil engineering, construction management or construction related field from an accredited college or university is preferred.Previous experience in utility coordination, project management, or a related field is required, with a strong understanding of local utility regulations and practices.OSHA 30 is required.A driver's license valid in New York State.Demonstrated proficiency with all applicable software packages including but not limited to MS Windows; MS Office (including Project, Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint), and Adobe Acrobat.Must be authorized to work in the United StatesMust be willing to undergo a background check, in accordance with local law/regulations Key Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:Utility Coordination: Act as the primary liaison between utility companies, contractors, and project managers to ensure smooth communication and coordination of utility-related activities.Project Oversight: Oversee the relocation of utilities as required for construction and maintenance projects, ensuring adherence to project plans and local regulations.Conflict Resolution: Identify and resolve conflicts related to utility placements and relocations, working collaboratively with stakeholders to find cost-effective solutions.Documentation and Reporting: Maintain accurate records of utility coordination activities, including tracking progress, documenting issues, and providing regular updates to project teams.Field Inspections: Conduct field checks and inspections of utility work to ensure compliance with safety standards and project specifications. Skills:Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills to effectively liaise with various stakeholders.Organizational Skills: Strong organizational abilities to manage multiple projects and priorities simultaneously.Team Collaboration: Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment, fostering positive relationships with contractors, utility companies, and government agencies.Company DescriptionWPA is a woman-owned Owner's Representative firm and we manage construction projects for mostly nonprofits including schools, hospitals, libraries, etc. in the New York City area. We have been in business for over 30 years and have completed well over 400 projects. We currently have somewhere between 40-50 employees.Because we are a woman-owned firm we are on contracts with larger Construction Management firms such as LiRo, Hill International, Jacobs, Tectonic, Gilbane, etc. and we help them to meet their WBE goals. We provide Project Managers, Inspectors, Estimators, Office Engineers and so on. Currently we are on about 10-15 different contracts.
Salary : $50 - $55
