We’re looking for a skilled, punctual and safety-focused Arborist/Tree Climber to join our growing crew at A1 Tree & Stump Removal.
This position is ideal for someone who enjoys the outdoors, gardening, rock climbing, or landscaping.
You’ll perform tree removals, pruning, and trimming with precision while maintaining a strong focus on safety, teamwork, and professionalism.
- Perform tree removals, pruning, and trimming safely and efficiently
- Climb trees using ropes and harnesses
- Operate and maintain lifts, chippers, chainsaws, and other tree care equipment
- Inspect all equipment and attachments to ensure they are operational; take appropriate steps to correct issues
- Conduct multiple inspections throughout the day on fluid levels, performance, and overall equipment condition using company checklists
- Report equipment needs and hazards to supervisors or mechanics promptly
- Survey, evaluate, and secure work areas; checking for power lines, utilities, terrain, and co-worker safety
- Follow work order instructions from supervisor and complete assigned tasks
- Ensure each job site is left clean, organized, and safe
- Maintain good housekeeping on all company vehicles and equipment
- Uphold company safety standards by using tools properly and following all safety protocols
- Perform end-of-day duties including recording hours worked, completing job site reports, inventorying materials used, loading/unloading equipment, and cleaning out the truck
- Able to lift at least 75 lbs to shoulder height
- Ability to climb 40 feet or more using ropes and harnesses
- Ability to work long days outdoors, including overtime, in all types of terrain and weather conditions
- Experience operating aerial lifts, boom truck
- Tree climbing experience required
- High school diploma or GED required
- Valid driver’s license (CDL preferred), reliable transportation
- Must be able to pass a drug screen
- Bilingual (English/Spanish) is a plus
- Dependable, safety-conscious, and committed to teamwork
- Ability to commute to office in Bloomington 1 time per week
- Ability to work 8 am to 5 pm Monday-Friday
- ISA Arborist Certification preferred, or willingness to acquire
- CDL driver’s license with air brake endorsement preferred
- Experience operating aerial lifts, boom truck
- Tree climbing experience required
- Knowledge and experience in tree care crew operations
- Understanding of proper tree care and safety practices
- Strong communication and listening skills
