Duties
- Safely ascend trees using climbing gear and rigging techniques to perform pruning, trimming, or removal tasks.
- Execute tree care procedures including plant pruning, crown thinning, shaping, and deadwood removal to promote healthy growth.
- Use chainsaws and hand tools to cut branches or remove trees with precision and adherence to safety protocols.
- Implement arborist rigging techniques for controlled tree dismantling or limb removal in complex situations.
- Conduct site assessments to identify hazards, plan safe work sequences, and ensure compliance with safety standards.
- Maintain detailed records of work performed, including species identification (dendrology), tree condition assessments, and work logs.
Requirements
- Proven outdoor work experience with a focus on arboriculture or landscape maintenance.
- Demonstrated proficiency with tree trimming, pruning, and removal techniques using chainsaws and hand tools.
- Skilled in the operation of bucket trucks, aerial lifts, and other specialized equipment such as rigging gear.
- Knowledge of GIS (Geographic Information Systems) is a plus for site mapping and planning.
- Familiarity with arborist rigging techniques for safe tree dismantling at heights.
- Strong understanding of tree care principles, plant pruning care, and landscape maintenance best practices.
- Ability to adhere strictly to safety protocols while working at heights or near power lines.
- Growing experience in horticulture or related fields such as dendrology or landscaping is highly desirable.
- Excellent physical fitness for climbing, lifting heavy limbs or equipment, and working outdoors in various weather conditions.
- Bi-lingual (English/Spanish)
