Job Description Summary: This Relief Advocate position provides advocacy support and empowerment to residents at A Woman's Place (an inclusive domestic violence shelter located in Greeley, Colorado).
Job Responsibilities:
- Work on-call to provide back-up coverage for overnight, evening, and weekend shifts, as available.
- Maintain client confidentiality and confidentiality of the safe house location.
- Provide crisis phone line coverage.
- Empower residents and assist with safety planning and community resources.
- Complete accurate documentation.
- Assist with maintaining shelter cleanliness including client rooms, common areas, and receiving donations.
- Work collaboratively with other staff members, interns, donors and volunteers
Skills and Abilities:
- Ability to establish priorities, meet deadlines and manage workflow.
- Proven computer skills including Microsoft Word.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Ability to effectively manage multiple tasks.
- Ability to work well both independently and as part of a team.
- Strong ability to communicate verbally and in writing.
- Bi-lingual preferred.
Education Requirements / Work Experience:
Education: Associates Degree in human services (social work, nursing or related field) OR equivalent work experience.
Experience: 1-2 years of advocacy experience preferred. Knowledge of women’s issues, domestic violence, and social services preferred.
Physical Demands: Lifting/Carrying up to 40 pounds, Bending, Twisting, Standing, Climbing Stairs, Reaching above shoulder height, keyboarding
