Job Description:

A to Z Equipment Rentals is seeking a highly skilled Heavy Equipment Mechanic to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for maintaining and repairing a wide range of heavy machinery and equipment, ensuring that all machinery operates safely and efficiently. You will work with a variety of equipment, including bulldozers, excavators, telehandlers, boom lifts, loaders, and more.

Key Responsibilities:

• Perform routine maintenance and repair work on heavy equipment including engines, hydraulics, electrical systems, and other mechanical components.
• Perform service calls with company provided truck and fuel card.
• Diagnose issues and make necessary repairs or replacements to keep equipment running smoothly.
• Inspect, test, and troubleshoot equipment malfunctions to determine the root cause of issues.
• Use diagnostic tools, manuals, and specialized equipment to carry out repairs.
• Maintain accurate records of maintenance and repair work.
• Work independently or as part of a team to meet project deadlines.
• Ensure all work complies with safety regulations and company standards.
• Order parts and materials as needed, and ensure inventory is maintained.
• Assist with the training of junior mechanics as required.

Qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent (required). Vocational training or certification in heavy equipment mechanics is a plus.
• Proven experience working as a heavy equipment mechanic or in a similar role.
• Strong knowledge of mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical systems in heavy machinery.
• Proficient in the use of diagnostic tools and repair equipment.
• Ability to work independently and solve complex mechanical problems.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality work.
• Excellent communication skills and the ability to work well in a team environment.
• Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
• OSHA or safety certification (preferred but not required).

Physical Requirements:

• Ability to lift heavy parts and tools (up to 50 lbs).
• Ability to work in various weather conditions and environments.
• Capable of bending, squatting, kneeling, and working in confined spaces.
