What are the responsibilities and job description for the Actor/Singers and Music Directors for Leading Lady Cabaret 9.24 in NYC position at A to Z Arts?
DESCRIPTION
Thanks for your interest in @AtoZArtsNYC's No One Else: Musical Theatre's Leading Ladies. We are seeking women and fem-presenting actor/singers and MDs/pianists.
This cabaret will perform at the Green Room 42 in Midtown Manhattan on Sep 24 @ 7pm and will also be livestreamed. The program will include Golden Age and contemporary musical theatre material.
Performers, this is a volunteer opportunity; you will get footage of the performance.
To respect your time, we'll conduct rehearsal via self-tapes. In the two weeks before we perform, you will be asked to attend:
one 3-hour music rehearsal for cleaning
one 4-hour full-cast rehearsal.
On 9.24, sound check at The Green Room 42 will be from 4-6PM (commitment is 4 to 8:30PM with a half hour break from 6 to 6:30). We will prepare 50-60 minutes of music.
ABOUT THIS CABARET: I've produced a few cabarets in the City in collaboration with Brooke Emmerich of Kindred Spirits Productions, including Average Unmarried Female: Musical Theatre's Second Girls in March. For this Leading Lady version, I'm quite psyched to design a showcase that really makes you shine! While we'll consider the history of musical theatre's leading ladies and lightly analyze her development, I'm most interested in featuring a diverse cast (not just your standard model leading ladies) and using the theme as a Trojan horse to smuggle in a bit of YOUR story/aspirations/experience with the type/trope. This won't be a TED Talk; it will be more like you have you own solo cabaret for a slice of the program, and we'll aim to find all the comedy, spice, and specificity we can in what is sometimes vanilla or generic material.
