What are the responsibilities and job description for the Men for Literary Heroines Cabaret position at A to Z Arts/Kindred Spirits Productions?
DESCRIPTION
Thanks for your interest in A Different Kind Of Girl: Literary Heroines in Musical Theater. We are seeking an actor/singer man for solo and/or duet material. We welcome submissions through September 1, 2026, and if you don't receive an email confirmation of your response, your Form response was unfortunately not registered.
This cabaret will perform at the Green Room 42 in Midtown Manhattan on November 20 @ 7pm. The program will include Golden Age and contemporary musical theatre material. Music directors will be compensated, and actor/singers will receive footage of the performance.
To respect your time, we'll conduct rehearsal via self-tapes. In the two weeks before we perform, you will be asked to attend: one 3-hour music rehearsal for cleaning & one 4-hour full-cast rehearsal. On 11.20, sound check at The Green Room 42 will be from 4-6PM (commitment is 4 to 8:30PM with a half hour break from 6 to 6:30). We will prepare 50-60 minutes of music.
ABOUT THIS SHOW: A Different Kind of Girl will be the fourth collaboration between A to Z Arts and Kindred Spirits Productions, following spring's Bit By The Bug. This cabaret will be a remount of some material from Headstrong: Literary Heroines in Musical Theatre, which was our successful collaboration in 2025, and some new material. Some musicals featured will include Little Women, Jane Eyre, Anne of Green Gables, Pride and Prejudice, The Secret Garden and more.
I (Brooke Emmerich, Kindred Spirits Productions) created KSP because I wanted create a company that focuses on material that features femme voices and stories. We were inspired to produce with this theme again because these character's stories- Jo, Jerusha, Elizabeth, Anne, Jane and more- have paved the way for some of the most celebrated stories and characters today. This show will be part showcase, part lit lesson/ celebration, and we are hoping to find performers that are passionate about this theme to help create a setlist that flows organically in a (mostly) chronological showcase.
Thank you for submitting! With questions, email [email protected].
