Summary:

A Step to Freedom (ASF) is seeking a Grant Writer (Foundation Focused) who will be responsible for leading the organization’s fundraising efforts and overseeing the funds development and grant team. This role involves strategic planning, team management, and cultivating relationships with donors and grant-makers. The ideal candidate will have strong leadership skills, a proven track record in fundraising, and a passion for the organization’s mission.

Primary Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Strategic Planning:
  • Develop and implement a comprehensive fundraising strategy to secure funding from various sources, including individual donors, corporations, foundations, and government agencies.
  • Set fundraising goals and objectives in collaboration with senior management and the Board of Directors.
  • Team Management:
  • Lead and manage the funds development and grant team, providing guidance, support, and professional development opportunities.
  • Assign tasks, set performance goals, and conduct regular performance evaluations.
  • Foster a collaborative and positive team environment.
  • Fundraising Campaigns:
  • Plan and execute fundraising campaigns and events, ensuring they align with the organization’s mission and goals.
  • Oversee the creation of fundraising materials, including brochures, newsletters, and online content.
  • Grant Management:
  • Identify and pursue grant opportunities from government agencies, foundations, and corporations.
  • Oversee the development and submission of high-quality grant proposals, ensuring compliance with funder guidelines and requirements. This includes grant writing for LOIs, RFPs, Private Foundations, Corporate and Public funding, RFAs, Grant Interest, Work Order Solicitations, and more.
  • Manage grant reporting and ensure funded projects are implemented as per grant agreements.
  • Update the status of each grant using the company’s project management tool.
  • Donor Relations:
  • Cultivate and maintain relationships with individual donors, corporate sponsors, and foundation representatives.
  • Develop and implement donor recognition programs and stewardship initiatives.
  • Budget and Financial Management:
  • Prepare and manage the fundraising budget, ensuring efficient use of resources.
  • Monitor and report on fundraising performance, providing regular updates to senior management and the Board of Directors
  • Communications:
  • Collaborate with the communications team to develop fundraising messaging and materials.
  • Represent the organization at community events, conferences, and meetings.

Qualifications

  • At least 2-5 years of experience in fundraising and grant management for non-profit
  • organizations
  • Proven track record of securing significant funding from diverse sources
  • Strong leadership and team management skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and fundraising software
  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field (e.g., Non-Profit Management, Business
  • Administration, Communications)
  • Certified Fund-Raising Executive (CFRE) designation
  • Experience in managing large-scale fundraising campaigns
  • Strong network of contacts within the funding community

Work Environment

  • Office environment with occasional travel to meet with donors and attend conferences
  • Flexible working hours may be required to meet fundraising deadlines
