A. PRN (on call) *Must commit to on-call schedule of availability. Min 4shifts per month

B. Flex shift - (M, Wed, Sat) *Summer availability

C. 3rd shift - Overnight Fr, Sat, Sun 10p-8a

D. Weekend (Sat-Sun) 8a- 8p, 10am-6pm / 6p-6am / 12p-8pm/ 8p-8a *Flexible*

Job Summary: The Direct Care Worker /Staff (DCW/S) is responsible for providing direct care supervision for youth residing in (ASHHYDS, Inc) who may have been subjected to abuse and or neglect, victims of sex trafficking, and or displaced LGBTQ youth. The right candidate holds a responsibility to provide a fostering environment that facilitates learning and behavioral management in a supportive manner with youth who may exhibit behavior and or mental health challenges. The Direct Care Staff / Worker will maintain a flexible, organized, and efficient work schedule and adhere to ALL agency (ASHHYDS,Inc.) policies & guidelines; set per licensed and contractual obligations with DHS / DJJ.

Essential Functions:

  • Conduct new intake services including but are not limited to: completing the necessary

paperwork, and providing youth with an overview of the program services for intake into the program. Provide basic needs to youth upon arrival to the program (to include but not limited to:

meals, clothing, hygiene products, shower, and bedroom assignments).

  • Ability to provide SUPERVISION to youth to ensure that ratios and appropriate

supervision is continuously met as per agency, state, and federal requirements. 1:5 / 2:6> Develop a positive rapport with youth while serving as a role model and ally to create a safe and caring environment. Must ensure all forms and progress notes are properly completed by the end of shift. *NO EXCEPTIONS Assist with the planning and coordination of special educational events (to include but not limited to: spelling bee, science fair), acculturation activities, educational (to include but not limited to visits to museums), and recreational outings (to include but not limited to: movies, park, amusement parks), religious activities, assist in the coordination of any other meaningful experiences for ASHHYDS, Inc youth which promote volunteerism and learning. Provide vocational courses and curriculum in a subject area approved by the program director, PC, HM, which introduces youth to career choices / assist youth with homework.

  • Must be able to assist in the evacuation of youth as needed due to inclement weather conditions, natural disasters, or other unforeseen occurrences.Supervise the residents during computer sessions, small group discussions, outings and visitation
  • Ensure the facility/home is “inspection ready” by 8 am each day. (w/staff assistance) *NO EXCEPTION
  • Apply light cooking/meal prep.DAILY (staff may eat with residents during shift)

Skills and Abilities:

  • Displays temperament to work with and care for youth, and to be culturally sensitive to the diverse populations of Georgia.
  • Ability to read and comprehend basic instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
  • Ability to compile, organize, and review the information and use established guidelines or procedures to determine the appropriate course of action in daily work situations.
  • Must have excellent verbal communication skills.
  • Must have a high level of interpersonal skills to handle sensitive and confidential situations. Position requires demonstrated poise, tact, and diplomacy. Works effectively and relates well with others including superiors, colleagues, and individuals inside and outside of the agency.
  • Exhibits a professional manner in dealing with others and works to maintain constructive working relationships.
  • Ability to represent agency effectively in a variety of settings with diverse communities.
  • Demonstrates understanding and appreciation for diverse cultures, including LGBTQ and or CSEC youth.
  • Strong attention to detail and well organized.
  • Must be able to maintain a calm, non-defensive, supportive attitude during a crisis or potential crisis situation.
  • Must be team-oriented and exhibit a POSITIVE ATTITUDE

Required:

  • Must have and maintain a valid Georgia Driver’s License and an acceptable driving record.
  • Background clearance through OIG
  • CPR and First-Aid certification, before working unsupervised.
  • Non-violent crisis intervention, before working unsupervised.
  • 1-year minimum experience working with at-risk youth & meet educational requirements set per state.

Other:

Ability to work schedule required to fulfill the duties of the position. Including days, nights, evenings, overtime, and/or weekends. At times, an individual must be able to work in a fast-paced environment with a focus on safety and ability to handle and prioritize multiple, competing tasks and demands, EFFECTIVE & proper decision making for youth in care and seek supervisory assistance as appropriate.

Qualifications and Requirements:

  • High School Diploma or GED with experience working with youth
  • Must be computer proficient.
  • Must be able to maintain a flexible work schedule.
  • Valid GA Driver’s license
  • CPR , 1st Aid, CPI certified/eligible
  • Cleared background check from the appropriate entity.
  • Cleared drug test results and Cleared Tuberculosis (TB) test results.
  • Must be at least 21 years of age at the time of hire.

Agency is taking the necessary precaution as mandated by the CDC guidelines, to ensure the safety and wellbeing of all employees and residents we serve. PPE (mask, gloves, and hand sanitizer) is mandatory and readily available.

Pay: $13.50 - $14.00 per hour
