Duties
- Perform comprehensive diagnostics and repairs on diesel engines, transmissions, hydraulic systems, electrical systems, and other mechanical components of heavy equipment and vehicles.
- Conduct routine maintenance such as oil changes, tire service, brake repairs, suspension checks, and alignment adjustments to keep machinery running smoothly
- Use schematics and technical manuals to troubleshoot complex mechanical and electrical issues accurately
- Fabricate parts or modify equipment using welding, power tools, and hand tools to meet specific repair needs
- Operate heavy equipment such as excavators, cranes, forklifts, and tractor-trailers safely during maintenance or repair procedures
- Inspect vehicles and machinery for safety compliance, including air brake systems, shocks & struts, HVAC systems, and vehicle systems for truck drivers
- Document all repairs performed in detailed service reports and maintain accurate maintenance records
Skills
- Proven dealership experience or extensive background in heavy equipment mechanics is highly preferred
- Strong mechanical knowledge of diesel engines, transmissions, hydraulics, suspension systems, and vehicle electrical systems
- Skilled in automotive diagnostics using schematics and diagnostic tools to identify issues efficiently
- Proficient with fabrication techniques including welding and soldering for custom repairs or modifications
- Experience operating heavy equipment such as excavators, cranes, forklifts, and farm machinery safely and effectively
- Ability to perform vehicle maintenance tasks like tire service, brake repair, alignment adjustments, shocks & struts replacement
- Familiarity with industrial equipment repair including power tools usage and equipment maintenance procedures
- Excellent customer service skills to communicate clearly with clients about repair needs and timelines
- Physical ability for heavy lifting and performing manual tasks in various environmental conditions
