Summary
The Financial Analyst is responsible for supporting financial reporting, job costing, budgeting, and forecasting activities across the organization. This role analyzes financial performance, prepares variance analyses, and partners with operations to provide insights that support decision-making and improve overall financial performance. The Financial Analyst will work cross-functionally and contribute to continuous improvement of financial processes and reporting.
Essential Functions
- Analyze financial performance and operational KPI, and compile and prepare reporting to support organizational decision-making.
- Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports.
- Conduct monthly variance analysis comparing actual results to budget and forecast, identifying key drivers and trends.
- Collaborate in the preparation and maintenance of budgets and annual financial plans, ensuring alignment with organizational goals.
- Perform job costing analysis, including tracking costs, profitability, and variances by project/job.
- Partner with operations and department leaders to review financial performance and provide actionable insights.
- Develop and maintain financial models to support forecasting and business planning.
- Assist in improving financial reporting processes, systems, and data accuracy.
- Support month-end close activities in coordination with accounting team.
- Maintain knowledge of acceptable accounting practices and financial analysis techniques.
- Perform all other tasks and duties assigned.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or related field required.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in financial analysis, accounting, or FP&A roles preferred.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills required.
- Highly organized, efficient, precise person to act as a liaison between multiple departments required.
- Transportation or logistics industry experience preferred.
- Strong intrapersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively with persons from a wide degree of backgrounds and nationalities required.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills required.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel required; experience with Power BI or similar tools preferred.
- Experience with job costing, project-based accounting, or construction financial analysis preferred.
- Ability to organize and manage multiple priorities while maintaining accuracy and timeliness required.
- Ability to work independently required.
