Summary
The Chief Commercial Officer (CCO) is a key member of the executive leadership team responsible for driving ARS&S Holding Company’s revenue growth by using marketing to generate leads, and converting those leads – new clients and existing clients – into business. This role leads all sales, marketing, and business development efforts to expand and strengthen customer relationships and retention while delivering the outstanding service and reliability our clients have trusted for over 80 years.
The ideal candidate is a results-oriented sales leader — someone who thrives on winning new business, strengthening partnerships, building loyalty, and spotting opportunities before competitors do. You’ll combine strategic vision with hands-on leadership and collaboration with the COO and CFO, aligning commercial execution, marketing strategy, and customer recruitment and retention with company goals to deliver measurable results.
Essential Functions
Commercial Strategy and Leadership
- Develop, execute, and maintain a comprehensive commercial strategy with clear goals for revenue, profit margin, and market share.
- Collaborate with CEO, COO, and CFO to ensure commercial terms are achievable, compliant, and aligned with business and financial goals.
- Lead the weekly Sales and Service meetings with executive leadership and provide weekly forecasts, achieving monthly averages to /-10% of actuals.
- Communicate effectively with the Executive Leadership Team regarding current and prospective opportunities, as well as progress towards company revenue goals.
- Understand and manage profit and loss (P&L) sensitivity across deals to optimize profitability and mitigate financial risk
Sales & Business Development
- Lead all sales and marketing operations (both internal and external), overseeing pipeline development, client acquisition, contract negotiation, and post-sale relationship management.
- Build, nurture, and maintain strategic relationships with major clients, partners, and other key industry stakeholders; act as senior‐level point of contact in customer acquisition, retention, and relationships.
- Represent ARS&S Holding Companies at industry events and client meetings to strengthen visibility and partnerships in and beyond the maritime industry.
- Gain new customers through proactive sales outreach, networking, and relationship-building within the maritime and maritime-adjacent industries.
- Retain existing customers by ensuring satisfaction, responsiveness, and consistent delivery of high-quality service throughout engagement with A.R. Savage & Son.
- Transfer project/client information to Operations in a timely manner and oversee service delivery to ensure customer satisfaction and enhance retention and referrals.
- Achieve or exceed all sales, forecasting, and cost-per-acquisition targets. Ensure compliance with U.S. and international trade, anti-bribery, and sanction regulations (OFAC and FCPA)
Marketing & Brand Management
- Oversee execution of marketing and advertising efforts, ensuring brand consistency and measurable return on investment.
- Implement and maintain the CRM system, ensuring accurate reporting, forecasting, and lead management.
Market Research & Analysis
- Research and monitor market trends, customer insights, and competitor activity to refine pricing, positioning, and go-to market strategies.
- Conduct detailed market, client, and competitive analysis to identify growth opportunities, potential clients, and to ensure we provide high-quality service to customers.
- Perform other duties as assigned to support the company’s commercial objectives.
Qualifications
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalency required.
- Experience in the maritime, logistics, or port services sectors.
- Proven ability to generate and close new business, manage key accounts, and deliver revenue growth in a competitive environment.
- Skilled in relationship management, negotiation, and proposal development.
- Demonstrated success in building sales processes, CRM systems, and reporting frameworks.
- Ability to develop and execute sales strategies independently and in collaboration with leadership.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and CRM tools.
- Strong communication and presentation skills.
- Willingness and ability to travel frequently for industry events, client engagement, and site visits.
- Strong intrapersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively with persons from a wide degree of backgrounds and nationalities.
- Self-motivated, organized, and thrives in a fast-paced environment.
- High level of organization, attention to detail, problem solving, and analytical ability.
- Ability to sit/stand for long periods of time and lift up to 30 pounds.
- Must be fluent in English, with strong reading, writing, and verbal communication skills
- Must be legally authorized to work in the United States
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in sales, marketing, or maritime-related disciplines highly preferred.
- 5 years of experience in a senior commercial or sales leadership role.
- Strong understanding of the shipping industry, including key players, market dynamics, and operational considerations highly preferred.
- Spanish language proficiency preferred.
