What are the responsibilities and job description for the Pipe Crew Hill Man position at A&R Development Group?
A&R Development Group is seeking an experienced Pipe Crew Hill Man to join our underground utility crew.
Applicants must have at least three years of pipe-related construction experience. This is not an entry-level position. The selected candidate must understand underground utility installation and be able to assist the pipe crew safely and efficiently.The ideal candidate will be dependable, safety-minded, physically capable, and comfortable working around trenches, excavation equipment, loaders, compactors, and other heavy equipment.
Job Responsibilities
Responsibilities may include:
- Assisting with storm drain, sanitary sewer, and water-main installation
- Preparing pipe, fittings, structures, and materials for installation
- Sending tools and materials into the trench
- Assisting with setting pipe and drainage structures
- Checking and maintaining pipe grade and alignment
- Preparing bedding material
- Assisting with backfilling and compaction
- Operating compactors and other small equipment
- Spotting excavators, loaders, trucks, and other equipment
- Maintaining organized pipe, fittings, tools, and job-site materials
- Helping maintain trench safety and a safe work area
- Communicating with the pipe foreman, excavator operator, and trench personnel
- Assisting with testing, cleanup, and general pipe crew operations
Required Experience
Applicants must have:
- A minimum of three years of pipe-related construction experience
- Experience with underground utility installation
- Knowledge of storm, sewer, or water-main construction
- Experience working safely around trenches and excavation equipment
- An understanding of bedding, backfill, and compaction procedures
- The ability to identify common pipe, fittings, and utility materials
- The ability to follow grades, plans, and foreman instructions
Qualifications
- Must be dependable and punctual
- Must have a strong work ethic
- Must be able to work safely as part of a pipe crew
- Must be able to perform physical construction work
- Must be able to lift and carry pipe-related tools and materials
- Must be able to work outdoors in Florida weather
- Must be willing to assist wherever needed
- Reliable transportation to and from work is required
- Valid driver’s license is preferred
- OSHA, trench-safety, or competent-person training is a plus
