Duties
- Safely operate tow trucks, including flatbed and traditional models, to recover and transport vehicles in compliance with cargo securement protocols
- Perform basic vehicle troubleshooting, minor mechanical repairs, and automotive diagnostics to assess vehicle condition before towing
- Execute vehicle recovery towing with precision, ensuring safe vehicle loading onto tow trucks using proper techniques and equipment
- Load and unload vehicles efficiently while adhering to safety standards for mechanical integrity and cargo security
- Communicate effectively with customers, dispatchers, and emergency responders to coordinate vehicle recovery operations
- Maintain detailed logs of all towing activities, including incident reports and service records
- Conduct routine inspections of tow trucks and equipment to ensure optimal operation and safety compliance
Qualifications
- Valid commercial driver’s license (CDL) with a clean driving record; experience in commercial truck driving preferred
- Proven experience in automotive repair, diagnostics, or mechanical work; mechanic experience highly valued
- Strong knowledge of vehicle mechanics for truck drivers and basic vehicle troubleshooting skills
- Familiarity with cargo securement protocols and safe vehicle loading procedures on tow trucks
- Ability to handle conflict management professionally when dealing with distressed customers or challenging situations
- Experience operating specialized equipment such as forklifts or other loading machinery is a plus
- Excellent driving skills with manual transmission experience preferred; commitment to safe driving practices at all times
