A Place To Turn is a food pantry dedicated to providing healthy food choices, diapers, and personal care items to MetroWest residents. We are committed to addressing hunger by serving with dignity, equity, and empathy.
The Food Pantry Coordinator is an important role at A Place To Turn (APTT) and reports to the Executive Director. It is the first introduction to APTT for clients and volunteers and requires an individual who enjoys working with people. Due to the current demographics of the clients that visit APTT, it is also mandatory that English and, either Spanish or Portuguese are fluently spoken.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
O Set up the pantry for distribution
O Stock, retrieve carts, and shop with clients during pantry distribution hours
O Greet and accept in-kind donations from donors
O Ensure all in-kind donations are accurately logged and entered into client database
O Unload weekly deliveries from various partners/vendors
O Process in-kind donations-check expiration dates, organize and store properly
O Pickup from local retailers with the APTT van
O Manage expiration dates for perishable items in the walk-in cooler
O Participate in a minimum of 3 events annually (e.g. Natick Days, Weston Scouts, etc.)
O Projects as assigned by the ED
O Accurately capture all demographic information as required for client database
O Determine client eligibility and assign appropriate programs during pantry visits
O Communicate with clients to understand the need for changes or enhancements to programs
O Reconciliation of daily registration
O Help manage the flow of client registration during distribution hours
O Have a working knowledge of the volunteer schedule
O Understand volunteer roles and be aware of daily projects to be fulfilled
O Give tours to prospective volunteers
REQUIREMENTS:
Fluent in English, Spanish and/or Portuguese
Ability to lift up to 40lbs
Valid driver’s license
Can remain on feet, standing for most of shift
H.S. graduate, some college preferred
Proficient computer skills
Basic math skills
Customer service
Positive, friendly attitude
Strong organizational skills

Pay: From $23.00 per hour
Expected hours: 35 per week
