Job Summary
We are seeking a reliable Line Cook to join our kitchen team. This position prepares food for dining hall services at Presby and/or Newman Hall on the UIUC campus, as well as catered events. The ideal candidate is dependable, works well in a fast-paced environment, and can follow recipes and production schedules. Position start date will be August 10th, 2026.

Responsibilities
- Prepare and cook menu items according to recipes and production schedules.
- Set up and stock workstations before service.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area throughout each shift.
- Follow all food safety, sanitation, and health department regulations.
- Assist with food preparation for catering events and daily dining operations.
- Properly label, store, and rotate food products.
- Monitor food quality and portion sizes.
- Communicate with kitchen staff to ensure efficient meal service.
- Assist with receiving deliveries and maintaining inventory.
- Complete opening, closing, and cleaning duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Previous experience as a line cook or in a commercial kitchen preferred.
- Experience with high-volume food service or catering is a plus.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and prioritize tasks.
- Dependable with good attendance and punctuality.
- Ability to stand for long periods and lift up to 50 pounds.
- Food Handler Certification preferred, or willingness to obtain.
Schedule
- Full-time and part-time positions available.
- Weekend and evening availability may be required based on business needs.
- Additional hours may be available for catered events and seasonal operations.
