KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Hoist Operation:
- Operate mobile hoisting equipment to lift, move, and position loads as required.
- Ensure accurate and safe cargo handling, avoiding damage to goods and equipment.
- Perform pre-operational checks and routine inspections of hoisting equipment to ensure functionality and safety.
- Follow all safety protocols and procedures to prevent accidents and injuries.
- Report any safety hazards or incidents immediately to the supervisor.
- Meticulously assess the weight and size of loads to determine the most suitable lifting techniques and equipment.
- Properly secure loads to guarantee stability during transportation.
- Keep detailed records of all loads lifted, including weight, type, and destination.
- Regularly conduct maintenance and minor repairs on hoisting equipment to ensure it operates at its best.
- Promptly report any major mechanical issues to the maintenance team for immediate resolution.
- Keep the hoisting equipment clean and in top working condition.
- Work closely with other team members to coordinate lifting operations and ensure smooth workflow.
- Communicate effectively with supervisors, colleagues, and clients to understand job requirements and expectations.
- Assist in training new operators and sharing best practices.
Someone with:
- Grade 12 diploma or equivalent required.
- Relevant certifications (Forklift Certification)
- Experience working as a forklift driver
- Safety training and certifications in material handling and lifting operations.
- Knowledge of warehouse safety regulations and experience in implementing safety protocols
- Excellent written and verbal communication skill
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- Willing to work long hours and commitment to achieving operational outcomes.
