What are the responsibilities and job description for the Full Time Cashier position at A Matter of Taste?
We are seeking a friendly and efficient Cashier to join our team at a small retail store. The ideal candidate will be responsible for providing excellent customer service while accurately processing transactions. This role requires strong cash handling skills, familiarity with a register, and the ability to maintain a clean and organized checkout area. We try to have a set schedule for our staff. Once we come up with a weekly schedule, we stay with it for the season, with occasional variance for time off requests. Schedule does change based on seasons. We are open 9 am to 9 or 9:30 during the summer months, more limited hours during winter/spring. Must be willing/able to work closing shifts and have own transportation, bus schedule does not allow for the hours required. Must be at least 18 and responsible enough to work by yourself. Training pay will be minimum wage, training takes approx 2 weeks depending on how quickly the applicant gets comfortable. After training, pay rate is 20.00 plus $2 hr bonus paid at the end of December each year.
Duties
- Operate the cash register and handle cash transactions with accuracy and efficiency.
- Provide exceptional customer service by greeting customers, answering questions, and assisting with product inquiries.
- Maintain an organized checkout area, ensuring it is clean and stocked with necessary supplies.
- Assist in stocking shelves and managing inventory levels as needed.
- Collaborate with team members to ensure smooth operations during peak hours.
Qualifications
- Previous experience in a retail environment preferred.
- Strong cash handling skills and familiarity with registers are essential.
- Ability to perform basic retail math for accurate transaction processing.
- Excellent communication skills; bilingual abilities are a plus.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while maintaining a positive attitude.
- Abillity to find a task when it is slow, while still focusing on the customers in the store
- Willingness to learn about products and promote them effectively to customers.
