Leave of Absence Specialist Highlights
- The pay for this position is $36.06 per hour.
- Remote position
- Monday – Friday, 8:30AM-5:00PM
- Quarterly travel to Dallas, Houston, or San Antonio for meetings with expenses paid.
- This position is a temporary contract.
Responsibilities
- Administers the end-to-end Leave/ADA process for employees. This includes the FMLA and accommodation requests under the ADA: employee designation, navigating complex issues and escalations, ensuring open communication throughout the leave and accommodation process.
- Maintains reasonable communication with employees on leave to facilitate smooth and timely return to work.
- Relays communication between employees and their managers during leave within reason. Communicates with employees regarding their needs for leave and/or modified work schedules. Ensures that employees are aware of their responsibilities and of any documentation and notice required to qualify for and to take leave.
- Act as a subject matter expert on aspects of leave administration process.
- Advises managers and employees on the interaction of leave laws with paid time off, workers compensation, and short-term and long-term disability benefits.
- Effectively manages and tracks leaves from the employee’s initial notice until the employees return to work dates.
- Partner with Employee Relations, Legal and vendors when needed to address any concerns as they arise.
- Familiar with Absence-Soft, Workday and MetLife leave systems.
- Oversees the return-to-work process for employees returning from extended FMLA, workers compensation, or other leave(s).
- Maintains complete and accurate records of leave and accommodation requests in accordance with specified legal requirements and documentation of best practices.
- Preserves confidentiality of employee medical documentation and files.
- Serve as expert on ADA/ADAAA accommodations with the knowledge and ability to engage in the interactive process in reviewing and approving workplace accommodations.
- Partner with other HR teams to ensure leave policies and practices are implemented consistently and managed appropriately.
- Maintains knowledge of all applicable leave and accommodation laws including the FMLA, ADA, and state and local laws.
Requirements
- Associates required, bachelor’s preferred Human Resources, business, or related field.
- 3 years in Human Resources
- 3 years in HR solely focused on Leave/ADA Management
- Experience with Workday is highly preferred.
- Experience with Absence-Soft is a plus!
- Healthcare Industry experience preferred.
- PHR or SPHR preferred.
