Job Title: Commercial Loan Specialist
Location: Johnston, RI (Onsite to start; hybrid potential – 1 day remote per week)
Pay Rate: $24–$26/hour
Schedule: 40 hours/week, Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM
Position Overview:
The Commercial Loan Specialist is a key member of the Business Banking Operations team, responsible for ensuring complex loans are closed and documented in accordance with credit policies. This role requires precision, strong organizational skills, and a thorough understanding of loan documentation, federal regulations, and compliance requirements. The Commercial Loan Specialist will manage a pipeline of transactions, serve as a compliance gatekeeper, and coordinate closely with sales partners, legal counsel, and clients.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Ensure loans are closed and documented according to credit approval procedures.
- Accurately book loans into the loan accounting system.
- Manage a loan pipeline of 25–30 transactions, communicating status and conditions to partners and clients in a timely manner.
- Perform due diligence, review operational risk, and ensure all conditions precedent are met prior to loan closing or funding.
- Collaborate with sales partners, customers, legal counsel, and third parties to clear pre-closing conditions, including environmental reports, appraisals, flood determinations, lien positions, and title work.
- Reconcile Loan Accounting Recon accounts for assigned loans.
- Manage and resolve post-closing legal documentation exceptions in compliance with policies.
- Implement effective controls, monitor key client indicators, and manage loan closings within established Key Performance Indicators (KPIs).
- Provide exceptional customer service while adhering to policies, controls, and regulatory requirements.
- Mitigate operational and reputational risk.
Required Skills and Experience:
- 1–3 years of experience in a business/commercial lending environment.
- Knowledge of AFS and Laser Pro is a plus.
- Exceptional customer service and communication skills.
- Highly motivated, team-oriented, and able to manage and resolve moderately complex problems.
- Strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to prioritize multiple tasks independently.
- Ability to manage a pipeline of credits while meeting service level agreements.
Education:
- High School diploma or equivalent (GED) required.
- Associate’s Degree or higher preferred.
