Title: Network Field Engineer
Location: Novi, MI (Offsite – Position will travel to and support multiple locations around the Metro Detroit area – This job requires driving your personal vehicle between work sites)
Schedule: Mon – Fri, 9:00AM – 5:00PM EST, including on-call availability
Note: This is a W2 contract position – C2C, 1099, & 3rd party candidates will NOT be considered
The Network Field Engineer provides support for LAN & WAN connections, and application performance troubleshooting. This individual is responsible for delivery of new functionality, day-to-day operations, and participating in break/fix activities.
Position Duties:
- Monitor the day-to-day operations of the data network within their defined scope
- Provide technical assistance and resolution for network problems
- Recommend and assist with the implementation of complex upgrades and improvements to the data network, as assigned
- Work with other infrastructure groups and end-users to identify and troubleshoot performance issues in an enterprise environment
- Monitor the installation, maintenance, and monitoring systems of clients' networks
- Participate in on-call rotation.
- Apply advanced skills to resolve complex problems not covered by existing procedures or practices independently
- Display a high level of critical thinking in bringing successful resolution to high-impact, complex and/or cross-functional problems
- Maintain current knowledge and understanding of security and networking best practices to offer the best solutions and protection to company systems
Position Qualifications:
- A minimum of 2-4 years of in-depth troubleshooting experience, with an understanding of practical networking systems such as LAN, firewalls, routers, PCs, and printer systems
- Strong, hands-on experience with CISCO installation/configuration of devices, LAN/WAN, Avaya, etc.
- Familiarity with port activations, configuring switches, updating firmware, and managing TCICP, LPS, routing protocols, BGP, and OSPF
- Comprehensive understanding of network services and networks, such as TCP/IP, OSPF and EIGRP
- Ability to analyze and evaluate networks, identify issues, and provide solutions to ensure networks are operating efficiently
- Ability to create comprehensive documentation using Visio and related tools
- Demonstrated comprehensive working knowledge of a technical or specialty area, and of operations, methods, and practices
- Experience with ServiceNow preferred
- Knowledge of HIPAA regulations preferred
- A minimum of an Associate Degree or higher level of education in a relevant technical field; Bachelor’s Degree and/or CCNA Certification preferred
