Overview
Our learning center is seeking a highly qualified SAT/ACT Test Prep Instructor specializing in Reading & Writing or Math. The ideal candidate demonstrates deep content knowledge, strong pedagogical skills, and a proven ability to guide students toward competitive score gains on standardized assessments.
This position requires a strong command of test-taking methodology, data-driven instruction, and the ability to deliver structured, strategy-focused lessons to high school students.
Core Responsibilities
- Deliver high-quality instruction for SAT/ACT Reading & Writing and/or Math following a structured curriculum.
- Teach explicit test-taking strategies, including pacing, elimination, logical reasoning, and time management.
- Administer and analyze full-length diagnostic tests; generate individualized progress plans based on student performance data.
- Provide timely, detailed feedback to students and maintain ongoing communication with parents regarding academic progress.
- Maintain expertise in the digital SAT format, including updated question types, scoring, and College Board standards.
- Foster a professional, goal-oriented learning environment that emphasizes academic rigor and student confidence.
- Collaborate with the academic team to ensure instructional quality and consistency across programs.
Role-Specific Skills
For SAT Reading & Writing
- Mastery of grammar, sentence structure, rhetoric, transitions, and logic-based reading comprehension.
- Ability to teach students how to analyze argument structure, tone, author’s purpose, and evidence-based reasoning.
- Experience helping students improve accuracy through strategy instruction rather than memorization alone.
For SAT Math
- Strong proficiency in Algebra, Advanced Math (functions, polynomials), Problem-Solving, and Data Analysis.
- Ability to break down multi-step reasoning processes and model efficient, test-aligned problem-solving approaches.
- Understanding of common SAT math traps and student misconceptions.
Qualifications
Required
- Bachelor’s degree in English, Mathematics, Education, or a closely related field.
- Minimum 3 years of SAT/ACT teaching or tutoring experience with documented student outcomes.
- Demonstrated ability to manage small-group and 1:1 instruction effectively.
- Exceptional communication, professionalism, and organizational skills.
- Proficiency with digital teaching platforms (Zoom, Google Workspace, ClassIn).
- Ability to follow structured curriculum while exercising professional judgment to meet student needs.
Preferred
- Evidence of significant student score improvement (e.g., 100 Reading/Writing, 120 Math).
- Experience with AP/IB courses (AP Lang, AP Calculus, AP Statistics, AP Physics).
- Familiarity with learning differences and instructional differentiation.
Schedule & Work Expectations
- Part-time schedule; typical teaching hours fall between:
- Weekdays: 4:00 PM–8:00 PM
- Weekends: 9:00 AM–8:00 PM (rotational or assigned schedules)
- Minimum 2–3 in-person teaching days per week required.
- Hybrid teaching model: On-site instruction supplemental remote teaching as needed.
- Occasional trainings, team meetings, or academic planning sessions.
