About the Role
We are seeking a passionate SAT Reading & Writing instructor who can guide high school students through effective, strategy-based preparation for the SAT. The ideal candidate excels in SAT English instruction and may also have experience supporting students in College Application Essay coaching. Experience with AP or IB subjects is preferred.
Subjects:
- Language Art (English): Reading comprehension, Evidence-based questions, Grammar, and Rhetorical analysis.
Responsibilities:
- Design and deliver comprehensive SAT preparation lessons covering.
- Teach SAT-specific strategies including: Passage analysis, Eliminating distractors, Time/pacing management, Pattern recognition and common question types.
- Administer practice tests, analyze results, and create personalized study plans.
- Track student progress and provide detailed feedback to students and parents.
- Stay current with SAT updates, especially the Digital SAT (dSAT) format.
- Foster academic confidence and test-taking resilience.
Schedule
We offer variable schedules with flexibility based on availability:
- Weekdays (Mon–Fri): 4 PM – 8 PM (Seattle Time)
- Saturday: 1 PM – 8 PM
- Sunday: 9 AM – 8 PM
General Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in English, Math, Education, or a related field.
- Minimum 3 years of teaching experience in SAT/ACT (Math or English).
- Strong understanding of the Digital SAT, including module structure and adaptive testing.
- Strong subject knowledge and ability to tailor lessons for varied learning levels.
- Ability to analyze student error patterns and adjust instruction accordingly.
- Familiarity with online teaching tools and educational platforms.
- Excellent communication skills and a student-centered teaching approach.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in College Application Essay coaching.
- Experience in teaching related AP or IB subjects.
- Proven record of student score improvement.
- Familiarity with College Board standards.
