Accounts Receivable Specialist

A.L. GEORGE dba Onondaga Beverage - the largest beverage distributor of beer, non-alcoholics, wine and liquor in central New York. We are looking for an A/R Specialist to join our team. This is a full-time, benefits eligible position located in Syracuse, NY. Must have excellent organizational, time management and verbal communication skills.

This position is responsible for all aspects of accounts receivable for our non-chain customer group. Answer customer inquiries, apply payments, investigate and resolve payment discrepancies, and manage State Liquor Authority (SLA) reporting mandates.

Responsibilities

• Accurately post incoming payments and reconcile account balances
• Track open receivables, review aging and communicate with customers on overdue payments on consistent and regular basis.
• Proactively research account issues and work through discrepancies for timely resolution.
• Process customer statements within established timelines
• Customer file maintenance, including credit application processing
• Responsible for mandated NY State Liquor Authority delinquency reporting
• Provide administrative support to delivery and sales departments as needed
• Other administrative duties as assigned

Requirements and skills

• High school diploma. Prior accounts receivable experience preferred
• Associate degree in accounting and/or business administration preferred
• Hands-on experience with billing, cash applications, collections and general cash handling
• High level of accuracy, attention to detail and organization is a must
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills to foster strong customer relationships
• Must have experience using a computer with proficient working knowledge of Excel
