JOB SUMMARY

The CDL B Delivery Driver is responsible for the safe, timely, and efficient transportation of goods to designated delivery locations. This position operates on a four-day work schedule, which includes overnight driving responsibilities on two scheduled workdays, and requires strict adherence to company policies and all applicable local, state, and federal regulations. The role demands strong driving skills, attention to detail, flexibility with scheduling, and a strong commitment to safety and customer service.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Safely transport goods to assigned locations according to established delivery routes and schedules, including overnight deliveries as required.
• Operate a CDL Class B vehicle in compliance with all DOT, FMCSA, and company safety regulations.
• Perform thorough pre-trip, in-route, and post-trip inspections to ensure vehicles are safe and roadworthy.
• Accurately maintain driver logs, delivery records, mileage, fuel usage, and required documentation.
• Verify delivery invoices and paperwork for accuracy; report shortages, damages, or discrepancies to the Transportation Manager and Warehouse Manager.
• Ensure proper loading, securing, and unloading of cargo in accordance with safety standards.
• Maintain cleanliness and basic maintenance of assigned vehicle, reporting mechanical issues or safety concerns immediately.
• Communicate effectively with dispatch, supervisors, and warehouse personnel to ensure smooth operations.
• Provide professional and courteous customer service during all delivery interactions.
• Maintain a valid CDL B license, DOT medical card, and compliance with drug and alcohol testing requirements.
• Maintain regular, reliable, and punctual attendance for all scheduled shifts, including overnight assignments.
• Perform additional duties as assigned to meet operational needs.

SCHEDULE REQUIREMENTS

• 4 scheduled workdays per week
• 2 overnight shifts per week (overnight hours may vary based on route needs)
• Occasional weekends or holidays may be required based on delivery demands
• Compliance with hours-of-service regulations is mandatory

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Valid CDL Class B license with a clean driving record
• Current DOT medical card
• Prior delivery driving experience preferred; food distribution experience a plus
• Ability to safely operate vehicles in various traffic, weather, and lighting conditions, including overnight driving
• Strong time-management skills and ability to work independently
• Excellent communication and customer service skills
• Ability to lift, push, and pull loads 50 lbs. or more with or without mechanical assistance
• Reliability, punctuality, and strong attention to safety and detail
• Knowledge of kosher food handling preferred but not required
• Successful completion of background check, motor vehicle record review, and drug screening

WORK ENVIRONMENT, EQUIPMENT & PHYSICAL DEMANDS

• Regular operation of CDL B vehicles such as box trucks
• Extended periods seated in a truck cab, including overnight driving
• Exposure to varying weather conditions and road environments
• Frequent standing, walking, bending, kneeling, and lifting during loading and unloading
• Use of GPS navigation systems and standard delivery equipment
• Adequate vision, hearing, and physical stamina required to meet job demands safely
