About A Kid’s Place
A Kid’s Place provides a safe, nurturing home for children who have been removed from their homes due to abuse, neglect, or abandonment. Our campus is designed to keep siblings together while offering stability, care, and hope during a critical time in their lives.
Volunteer Role Overview
Volunteers play a vital role in supporting the children, families, and programs at A Kid’s Place. Whether working directly with children, supporting events, sharing professional expertise, or assisting behind the scenes, volunteers help create a positive, enriching, and safe environment for everyone on our campus.
Volunteer opportunities fall into one of five main categories:
Volunteer Categories

On-Site with Children
Support children on campus through supervised activities such as tutoring, reading, arts and crafts, games, mentoring, and enrichment programs. -
Off-Site with Children
Assist with approved outings, community activities, recreational events, or educational experiences under staff supervision. -
Special Events
Help plan, set up, support, or break down fundraising events, holiday celebrations, community outreach activities, and campus gatherings. -
Professional Services
Provide skilled or licensed services such as administrative support, legal, medical, therapeutic, educational, marketing, IT, maintenance, or other professional expertise (as applicable). -
On-Campus Support (Non-Child Facing)
Assist with organizing donations, administrative projects, facility support, campus beautification, meal preparation, or other operational needs.
Responsibilities (May Include)

Support A Kid’s Place staff in delivering safe, positive experiences

Follow all organizational policies, safety guidelines, and confidentiality requirements

Maintain professional, respectful interactions with children, staff, and other volunteers

Complete required training, background screening, and onboarding

Commit to scheduled volunteer times as agreed
Qualifications

Must be at least 21 years of age (some opportunities may allow minors with supervision)
FDLE Level 2 background screening is required for any volunteer who provides 10 hours or more of service per month, in accordance with state and organizational requirements

Compassionate, dependable, and mission-driven

Ability to work respectfully with children from diverse backgrounds

Willingness to complete background screening and training requirements

Specific skills, licenses, or experience may be required for certain volunteer roles
