Overnight hours can be scheduled between 10pm- 8am.
Self Directed Adult (Medicaid Waiver Program) with rare genetic disorder seeking awake overnight supports; full time hours available after probationary period.
Must be an individual that is comfortable working independently and is able to demonstrate problem solving skills.
this position is not in an agency or group home setting and you will be under camera surveillance at all times due to medical monitoring while client sleeps.
Role Description
This is an on-site role as a Direct Support Professional located in Bethesda, MD. The role involves providing support and assistance to an individual with disabilities in their nighttime care. You will also assist with morning hygiene and meal routine before each school day-- hours of need are between 10pm and 8am. On occasion, you may be asked to drive the client to school. Mileage reimbursement provided.
Qualifications

- Understanding of the needs of individuals with disabilities
- Experience in a similar role is a plus
- Ability to pass a criminal background check and drug screen as required for state medical certifications
- Authorized to work as an employee in the US without sponsorship
- Ability to read, speak, and write in fluent English
- High school diploma or equivalent required; post high school certification preferred.
- understanding of behavior analytic principles required.
- Proficiency with scheduling tools, communication platforms, and general technology is a plus
- use of technology is a daily part of this role as candidate utilizes AAC and has a special interest in technology, so candidate must be comfortable using or learning new technology as well as supporting client in his use.
- Ability to follow detailed instructions and work independently; candidate must be willing to utilize critical thinking/problem solving strategies daily.
Job Responsibilities:
- Assist individual with daily activities, including personal hygiene, and medication administration
- Provide emotional support and companionship to individual
- Ensure the safety and well-being of client
- Document and report any changes in behavior or health status
- Collaborate with healthcare professionals to develop and implement care plans
- Advocate for resident rights and ensure their dignity is maintained
- Maintain a clean and organized living environment
Experience Needed
- Previous experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities, autism, or educational settings required
- Knowledge of vital signs and medication administration is a plus, you will be required to obtain a certified med tech license if you do not already have one.
- Familiarity with working in school settings with vocational programming for young adults with disabilities, nursing homes or similar healthcare settings is beneficial
-availability five nights a week and rotating weekends required
