Please read carefully before applying: You must be available from 2 PM to 11 PM on weekdays and be willing to work every other weekend, including Sundays. If you cannot meet this requirement, you will not be considered.
Self Directed Adult (Medicaid Waiver Program) with rare genetic disorder seeking two staff members at least 25-30 hours per week; full time hours available after probationary period. Supervision hours are provided for RBT or BCBA certification experience hours.
Must be an individual that is comfortable working independently and is able to demonstrate problem solving skills.
Role Description
This is an on-site role as a Direct Support Professional located in Bethesda, MD. The role involves providing support and assistance to an individual with disabilities in their daily activities and fostering their independence and inclusion within the community. The individual would be responsible for pickup at the area high school (2pm) and assisting the individual with their after school routines and community integration until 10-11pm. If you are not able to meet this requirement, we cannot consider you for the position.
Must be willing to plan meaningful daily activities with the client's preferences and needs considered. Must be willing to engage with the client akin to a friend/peer and demonstrate a high preference to self-direction principles and disability rights. This is a position in which you will be active for the entire shift as this client is used to being in the community daily and interacting with both typical and atypical community members daily.
This individual also receives medical care outside of the state of MD related to his genetic disorder, must be open to traveling with the client to attend medical appointments as needed.
Qualifications

- driver's license, insurance in your name and vehicle (client will need to be taken into the community, routine therapy and occasional out of state medical appointments, as part of your day)
- Ability to pass a criminal background check, driving screen, and drug screen as required for state medical certifications
- Authorized to work as an employee in the US without sponsorship
- Ability to read, speak, and write in fluent English
- High school diploma or equivalent required; post high school certification preferred.
- experience in applied behavior analysis preferred (supervision hours for bcba candidates or RBT can be provided); understanding of behavior analytic principles required.
- Proficiency with scheduling tools, communication platforms, and general technology is a plus
- use of technology is a daily part of this role as candidate utilizes AAC and has a special interest in technology, so candidate must be comfortable using or learning new technology as well as supporting client in his use.
- Ability to follow detailed instructions and work independently; candidate must be willing to utilize critical thinking/problem solving strategies daily.
Not a Good Fit If:
- You cannot commit to the required schedule (2 PM–11 PM and alternating weekends).
- You are uncomfortable with behavioral supports or physical interventions
- You are not open to using technology daily or supporting AAC learning.
- You are not reliable or prefer a passive caregiving role—this client needs engaged, consistent support.

- Collaborate with healthcare professionals to develop and implement care plans

Experience Needed
- Previous experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities, autism, or educational settings required
- Knowledge of vital signs and medication administration is a plus, you will be required to obtain a certified med tech license if you do not already have one.
- Familiarity with working in school settings with vocational programming for young adults with disabilities, nursing homes or similar healthcare settings is beneficial
