A & J Services is seeking a qualified Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) with credentials to provide person-centered supports to individuals with developmental disabilities in licensed residential settings. Support individuals who may require enhanced supervision (1:1 or 2:1 staffing) under a DMAS approved customized rate. Staff support the health, safety, dignity, rights, and daily needs of individuals while following Individual Support Plans (ISP), behavior support plans, and nursing-related supports within scope of training and certification.
Essential Job Duties
- Provide direct, person-centered support to individuals in residential and community settings.
- Maintain required supervision levels (1:1 or 2:1) including line-of-sight and proximity as outlined in the ISP.
- Assist individuals with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs) such as bathing, grooming, dressing, toileting, eating, and mobility.
- Support Instrumental Activities of Daily Living (IADLs) including meal preparation, housekeeping, and laundry.
- Implement Individual Support Plans (ISP), behavior support strategies, and skill building goals as written.
- Monitor and document behavioral, emotional, and physical status and report changes to supervisors or nursing staff.
- Utilize approved de-escalation and crisis prevention strategies to minimize risk and support safety.
- Complete required documentation including daily progress notes, data collection, EVV, and incident reports.
- Support community integration, transportation, appointments, and recreational activities.
- Uphold individual rights, confidentiality, and person-centered practices at all times.
- Participate in required trainings, staff meetings, supervision, and competency evaluations.
CNA-Specific Responsibilities
- Perform nursing-related support tasks within the scope of CNA certification and agency policy.
- Assist with health monitoring, vital signs, and personal care as directed by nursing staff.
- Carry out nurse-delegated tasks only when trained, authorized, and documented.
- Communicate health-related observations to nursing staff and supervisors in a timely manner.
- Maintain active Virginia CNA certification and comply with Board of Nursing requirements.

Minimum Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Direct Support Professional experience preferred.
- Active Virginia Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) license required for CNA-designated positions.
- Ability to work 8hr or 12-hour shifts, including weekends.
- Ability to provide enhanced supervision (1:1 or 2:1) as assigned.
- Completion of required DSP orientation, training, and competency requirements.
- Ability to pass background checks in accordance with DBHDS licensing standards.
Physical & Work Requirements This position may require standing, walking, lifting, bending, and assisting individuals as needed. Staff are expected to remain alert and attentive throughout assigned shifts and respond appropriately to individual needs and emergencies.
Schedule
Part-time Shifts, 7 am- 3 pm, 3 pm- 11 pm, or 7 am- 7 pm
