Coordinator of Assessment Services

The Opportunity

As Assessment Coordinator, you will join a close-knit team of mental health professionals committed to the work of healing BIPOC communities and their non-BIPOC allies. Your work will include assessment, supervision consultation (when appropriate), and administrative coordination. Populations served range from pediatric to geriatric clients. In this role, you will engage a strengths-based perspective that actively works to dismantle the practice of pathologizing behaviors indicative of a response to systemic oppression and trauma. This work primarily involves children and adults who present with a variety of neurodevelopmental (Autism & intellectual differences), cognitive, comorbid medical and psychiatric illnesses (e.g., PTSD, ADHD, learning disorders, mood disorders, pain disorders, traumatic brain injury, substance abuse, and dementias). Knowledge of school-based, private, third-party, medical, and work related evaluation practices is a must.

Candidates must have a commitment to growing, learning, and supervising trainees in the areas of Womanist theory, indigenous healing practices, and African-centered Psychology with a focus on decolonial praxis. This is the ideal calling for a clinician committed to the provision of services using an anti-racist, systems approach.

Candidate Profile

An Assessment Coordinator committed to decolonial praxis will display exceptional diagnostic, psychological assessment and client care skills. This individual will possess a strong knowledge of the inherent strengths and weaknesses of Western-based psychological theory, that extends beyond reductionistic critiques of normative bias. This healer will display advanced knowledge of systems-based approaches towards evaluation, utilizing an anti-racist lens for engaging clients, educating staff, and supervising trainees. In addition, this healer will demonstrate a deep commitment to decolonial praxis and growth in the areas of Womanist, African centered and/or liberation theory. The individual will have a demonstrated commitment to community healing and resisting institutionalized racism, gender, disability, sexual identity, and economic inequality, privilege, and microaggressions. This healer will regularly engage in self-care, display excellent interpersonal and writing skills. The person will be proactive, goal oriented, personable, honest and reliable.

Successful applicants will have completed graduate work at an accredited program in school, educational, counseling or clinical psychology. This is in addition to having extensive experience (3 years minimum) in completing psycho-diagnostic and psycho-educational evaluations conducted in both private and school-based settings. Experience working with BIPOC clients and from an anti-racist orientation is a must. For those without a doctoral degree, certification as a school psychologist is preferred. This individual will work under the direct supervision of a licensed psychologist while serving in the coordinator role. Preferred candidates will have completed an APA-accredited doctoral program in counseling, clinical or school psychology and an APA-approved internship. Licensure as a psychologist in the state of Georgia is preferred (individuals whose license can transfer, and licensed-eligible candidates will be considered).

Prior psychological assessment experience administering cognitive and achievement measures is required. Candidates without this experience will not be considered. Superior writing skills, exceptional interpersonal and client care skills are a must. The successful candidate must have the ability to balance multiple tasks, supervise staff (per licensure), possess exceptional organizational skills, and be a self-initiating thought leader.

Duties & Responsibilities

• Administrative coordination of assessments across service areas
• Provide thought leadership regarding the utilization of decolonial praxis in the area of psychological assessment and trainee development
• Conduct and supervise a variety of psycho-diagnostic/educational assessments for clients with learning, behavioral, neurodevelopmental, and comorbid health conditions
• Conduct work-related, parental fitness, trauma related evaluations, and specialized evaluations
• Conduct initial intake assessments and consultations to provide referrals when appropriate.
• Community consultation with allied health professionals.
• Supervision of psychometrists and clinical trainees at the Master’s, doctoral, and post-doctoral levels (as appropriate).
• Documentation of clinical records, report writing, and treatment recommendations
• Coordinate the development of a comprehensive community outreach, psychometrist training, and continuing education program focused on decolonial assessment praxis
• Development of site wide assessment procedures and staff training
• Option for providing individual, family, and/or group counseling in a clinical specialty area (e.g. children, teens, adults and/or families); in school-based settings, in-office, and via telehealth.

Compensation

This position is available either part-time or full-time. A competitive compensation package is available to include access to healthcare, dental and vision coverage. Our office is designated as a National Health Service Corps site enabling fully licensed clinicians to apply for student loan repayment (up to $75,000 for 3 years of service beyond your compensation).

Our goal is to decolonize western concepts of psychology by understanding how culture, indigenous African healing traditions, and spirituality can be used to heal people of African descent globally.
