Key Responsibilities:
OVER THE ROAD / CDLA /MINIMUM 2 WEEKSOUT
- Driving Commercial Vehicles:Safely operate large trucks, tractor-trailers, or buses, depending on the specific job requirements.
- Route Planning and Navigation:Plan routes, follow maps, and adhere to delivery schedules, often using GPS or other navigation systems.
- Loading and Unloading Cargo:Safely load and unload cargo, ensuring proper securing to prevent damage during transit.
- Vehicle Maintenance:Perform basic vehicle maintenance, including checking fluids, tires, and lights, and reporting any mechanical issues.
- Documentation and Record Keeping:Maintain accurate records of deliveries, hours of service, and any incidents or issues encountered.
- Compliance with Regulations:Adhere to all applicable traffic laws, regulations, and safety standards, including hours of service rules.
- Customer Interaction:Interact with customers in a professional and courteous manner during pickups and deliveries.
- Communication:Communicate effectively with dispatchers, supervisors, and other team members.
- Safety:Prioritize safety by conducting pre-trip and post-trip inspections, following safe driving practices, and reporting any safety concerns.
Skills and Qualifications:
- Valid CDL:Possess a valid Commercial Driver's License with the appropriate endorsements (e.g., hazardous materials, tanker, etc.).
- Driving Experience:Have a proven track record of safe and reliable driving experience.
- Knowledge of Regulations:Be knowledgeable about applicable traffic laws, regulations, and safety standards.
- Mechanical Aptitude:Possess basic mechanical knowledge for performing routine vehicle maintenance.
- Communication Skills:Have good communication skills for interacting with dispatchers, supervisors, and customers.
- Problem-Solving Skills:Be able to handle unexpected situations and make sound decisions on the road.
