MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

LCSW or LMFT, issued by the California State Board of Behavioral Sciences, or possession of a license to practice as a Clinical Psychologist issued by the California Board of Psychology.

Other: Two years of post-licensure experience in a psychiatric or mental health setting, other than a private practice, providing direct care. Crisis intervention certification required (may be acquired within 90 days of employment). Training in trauma-focused and/or trauma-informed psychotherapy is preferred. Attainment of at least 21 years of age.

Job Description

The Lead Clinician provides oversight of the mental health department consisting of mental health clinicians and behavioral health specialists. The Lead Clinician performs a wide range of therapeutic assignments related to the field of mental and behavioral health services and psychiatric social work as applicable by professional licensing laws. The Lead Clinician coordinates clinical services and trains designated staff on evidenced-based clinical approaches, trauma-informed care and crisis intervention, as necessary. In addition, the Lead Clinician has responsibility for performing, within the scope of licensure, a full range of psychotherapy and counseling services to minors and groups exhibiting a variety of mental health and related disorders. Under the direction of management, the Lead Clinician provides clinical and administrative supervision for assigned staff.

Essential Duties

· Provide trauma-informed and evidence-based guidance and serve as a casework consultant to clinical staff and other staff members, as necessary.

· Conduct thorough biopsychosocial assessments for individuals, couples, and families.

· Conduct individual, family, and group therapy sessions.

· Develop person-centered, trauma-informed and strength-based treatment plans.

· Coordinate care within interdisciplinary team and community agencies.

· Perform involuntary hospitalization procedures (5150) and Tarasoff assessments.

· Prepare reports and compose correspondence.

· Coordinate clinical decisions in response to operational demands.
