Role and Responsibilities
Individuals responsible for the off-loading/loading of bulk chemicals in a safe manner are vital to the operation of our company’s mission of supplying chemicals to industry. They will offload incoming bulk chemicals into assigned storage containers, and re-supply our inventory with others as required, in addition to other duties that he/she may be assigned:
· Carefully review their assigned work for the day and prepare the proper containers to receive the bulk chemicals.
· Verifying the correct labels are printed, the lot number is correct, and the correct package size.
· Make sure to follow all safety precautions and ground and bond tank trailer, equipment and containers.
· Visually check each tote and drum to make sure it is empty and clean then fill containers to the required volume and properly seal the container with seals and caps, torqued to the required specification per the closing instructions. Follow all special instructions regarding the order.
· Always follow all company safety protocols and procedures.
· Remove old labels from totes and replace them with new, neatly applied labels. Put away full containers in storage areas.
· Load bulk chemicals in tank trucks as required following all procedures for the job.
· Maintain a clean work area, throw away paper and other trash each day at the conclusion of your shift.
· Work safely in all tasks performed wearing PPE and safety equipment as required.
· Be willing to assist other employees when appropriate and to follow the instructions of their supervisor/s.
· Be flexible and willing to work overtime when required.
Qualifications and Education Requirements
This position requires the ability to follow detailed and special instructions, safety and PPE requirements and the ability to handle the physical demands of the job. Safety is above all the elements of this job, and the person must always follow the instructions of their supervisor/s. Prior bulk chemical handling is desired experience, and hazmat training is a plus.
Preferred Skills
Forklift certified, ability to carefully read instructions and pay close attention to details, prior experience loading and off-loading bulk chemicals, hazmat training, respiratory protection training.
Physical Demands & Work Environment
Continual standing to perform work. Frequent walking and moving items using a forklift or pallet jack. Work can be in areas of high noise and can be exposed to vapors or chemicals at our facility. Routine lifting of approximately 75 lbs. and frequent twisting and squatting to lift. Ability to stand, walk, bend, climb, and perform physical labor throughout the workday. Work performed is outside area. Seasonally exposed to weather typical for that season. Must be able to wear a respirator.
Pay: $19.00 - $22.00 per hour
